Olloclip and fake olloclip

Spread the love

My sis is very creative and she always finds the coolest things: she told me she bought this clip thing to put on her Iphone that takes macro-pics and I saw some amazing pictures she took of bees and flowers and of course, I wanted to do the same thing.  I forgot to ask her what she bought and assumed it was something like this:

But when it came I couldn’t figure out how to put it on the phone, let alone take a picture.  The hubby even had trouble.  So there are no macro-pics from this cool looking lens despite some decent reviews on amazon.  I went back and asked my sis what she really used and it turns out the Olloclip is a little more space-age looking but fits over the corner of the phone no problem.  (you have to be able to take the phone out of its case to slip the olloclip over the corner.)

Now, I’m a little shaky and I was more worried about the boys getting stung by bullet ants or bit by snakes then getting good pictures on this trip, but I think I managed to get some neat shots on our recent Costa Rica trip

Like a teeny-tiny chocolate flower.  (Yes, this is what chocolate looks like in its earliest stage!)

A butterfly up close:

An ant and the sweat on his forehead:

A cute little yellow bug.  (Another reason for my shakiness: I was terrified the bugs would bite me!)

Someone had dropped a crumb here, so it made this shot much easier:

Flowers were definitely easiest to focus on.

I had a lot of fun shooting with this lens and I can’t believe the kind of pictures you can take with your phone nowadays.  (PS if you think you want to try the first lens thing I bought and get it to work, be the first to comment below and let me know-I will totally send it to you if you live in the United States. Thanks!)

  1. great submit, very informative. I’m wondering why the other specialists of this sector don’t
realize this. You must continue your writing.
