Sloth hugging and some of my favorite things in Costa Rica

Spread the love

The hubby and I finally sat down to look at the last half of our Costa Rica trip (from AUGUST!) and I fell in love all over again.  Looking back at this trip, I think it is still one of the trips I will remember for my lifetime and it’s one I’ll always think about fondly and want to go back.  Sloth hugging is probably the biggest reason why I will always remember this trip.

Here I am at the Toucan Rescue Ranch holding my favorite type of baby.  I was so honored to be able to stay here and help care for some of these beautiful, gentle creatures.

Th Toucan Rescue Ranch  is so magical!  (Leslie, I’m already trying to figure out how to come back soon!)  It is a beautiful, thoughtful and caring place and such a sanctuary for  both animals and people.  This is the type of place that reminds you that you need nature in your life.

We also loved Manuel Antonio. The Hotel Si Como No is absolutely amazing. We actually saw monkeys, iguanas and beautiful birds from our balcony.  This is the view from the Outdoor Lobby.

We enjoyed drinks IN the pool.

ALL my boys loved the slide.

And the breakfast.

We even ordered the famous fiery banana dessert at the Rico Tico Bar at the hotel.  All these happy little geckos were licking our table before the show and we couldn’t figure out why until the show started and a sweet liquor was poured ALL over the table and lit on fire….it was definitely memorable.

My guys LOVED El Avion.  It’s a restaurant that has an old abandoned plane inside.  We had a scrumptius meal here too.

And the train restaurant. There are so many cool restaurants in Manuel Antonio.  This is what makes Costa Rica such a fun place to visit with kids.

And this house we rented in Cahuita was just divine.  (Thank you, Jenny at Global Family Adventures!) It was so nice having a kitchen for a couple meals and the beaches nearby were AMAZING!

The hubby is still dreaming about the breakfasts.  We made sure we brought back pineapple and guava jam but it’s just not the same without the sunshine and beach.

And I’m just dreaming about my sloths.  I love that pictures can just bring you back to the moment and I always come home wondering why we didn’t take more.

  1. Love seeing more of your Costa Rica pictures! The boys look like they had such a blast on this trip. We really want to go to Costa Rica but I’m not sure it’s going to happen next year since other trips came up. You guys stayed at some wonderful places. You’re not that far behind with pictures and posts…I’m still writing about a trip from January 🙂

  2. Costa Rica is high on my must visit list! I’d love to explore Manuel for its plentiful wildlife and to visit a place where I can hold or even see a baby sloth – that’s golden!

  3. Oh my gosh, that sloth is the cutest! Costa Rica is on my husband’s list of places to visit in 2016 and of course he wants me to go with him, so maybe I’ll be able to cuddle a sloth too.

  4. We visited Costa Rica but we were in the drylands with NO sloths. I was so bummed. We HAVE to head back soon. That sweet sloth baby has me needing to book a ticket STAT!
