I heart Giraffes

I don’t know about you but I always thought we’d be reading lots of train, car and pirate books with two boys in the house, and we definitely do, but we also have a surprising number of giraffe books too.

Like Saffy which has been a favorite since the guys were teeny tiny.  (Oh my goodness I just found out there’s a Saffy AND Ollie book now too!)

And I am a Little Giraffe which talks about where giraffes live and their day to day life.  Because of this book, the guys talk about Africa all the time.

(They also love Big Max and the Missing Giraffe especially as a bed-time book because it’s SO long.  But we don’t have this one yet: the Existential Giraffe.  The title makes me giggle so I’m intrigued.)

Anyways, I totally think it’s genetic.  My grandma came for a visit a little while ago and I never realized how much she loved giraffes (for their color, eyelashes and gracefulness, just like me!!) and I hope we can go to the zoo together the next time she comes down.  Maybe I need to score this sweet giraffe shirt for us to wear!

I also wish my brown bird lunch cooler from Canadian Designer So Young mother came in Brown Giraffe too because I would definitely love another.  While I do love the backpack pattern, I think I’m holding out to get the guys the world map one for next fall.  (Perfect for world travelers, don’t you think?)

But my absolute favorite giraffe in the world?  My little guy’s huggie:

He’s very well-loved, a little worn in a Velveteen-rabbit-sort-of-way and I can’t imagine life without him.  (So please little guys just stay sweet a little while longer, this momma wants to soak up every drop of it!)

(PS. I have been searching for a certain giraffe shirt I saw one of Gwen Stefani’s boys wearing in US weekly last year and I still can’t find it but I totally came across this crazy re-cap of a giraffe on the loose in the UK in the process.  Unrelated, but a diversion nonetheless.)
