How cool is this?

It’s money you can plant and I’m so tempted to give these to the guys as “allowance” that they can earn by helping out around the house so they can drop them in the soil in the spring and watch what blooms.  I found this amazing site through The Stationery Place whose sweet blogger Lyndsey also seems to grow wonderful things in the world and I’m especially excited about the Handmade Valentine’s Swap she’s organizing and if this tickles your interest, you can still sign up by January 25th!  (I did!)

Lyndsey also organizes Seattle Bloggers Unite, a way for Seattle bloggers to meet in person and at a recent meeting she introduced us to an amazing organization called Rescue Freedom: a group that aims to rescue victims of human trafficking.  According to that organization there are currently (as in 21st century NOW!) 27 million people living in slavery in the world.  I looked up the population of Washington State and that’s over three times the amount of people we have living here.  It floors me that this is even possible and it’s so sad that so many of these people are children. And now that I know about this, it’s not the kind of thing I can forget or put aside and I’m definitely going to learn more about Rescue Freedom and what they do and try to help. (And I hope you do too!)
