Tea and cookies and making croissants with my bestie in Seattle

Cookies made by casual baker

If you’ve ever heard me talk about my besties, realize I know I’m so lucky that I have some sweet friends who have tolerated me for such a long time.  S in particular has known me since I was pretty young and when she comes to visit, there’s always confetti.  Okay, she brings cookies and I make cookie crumbs.  And we don’t usually do tea, we’re more coffee girls.  But we definitely can’t go anywhere in the world without hitting up at least a dozen bakeries and I know she’ll always have something scrumptious tucked away in her bags for me to try.

This time we not only ate our way through Seattle, we actually tried out the croissant class at the Pantry at Delancey where we learned all sorts of amazing techniques.  (This was my second class there;  last time I learned to make layer cakes and I never realized how much a class could ever help me out!  I can’t wait to try making croissants on my own at home.)

We also stopped in Wandering Goose.  Oh how fabulous is this lovely place?  I made the first cut in the giant cake and it wasn’t even 9:30 in the morning.  And I couldn’t resist a slice of some kind of cake that was a banana butter delight.  I can’t wait to bring my guys here-I saw a few tables of families but it is a pretty small space so I’d recommend a back-up plan just in case.  (And do I dare admit we even picked up pastries from Crumble and Flake for eating later en route……oops I just did.)

As with all of our visits, this one went by in the blink of an eye.  I’m just glad we convinced S to go to our zoo, especially since it was the day my guys accidently washed their hands in the urinal at Spring Break camp.  (Mommy, it was the BIGGEST sink ever!)  Love you S!    We really need to fit in running in between all that eating next time!
