Sweet little moments

Spread the love

Wednesday was a busy day.  So busy that I didn’t want to get out of my pajamas.  I didn’t want to get out of bed.  I didn’t want to see the glorious sunshine streaming through all the windows in the house.

One of the busy things was that I knew I had to run my big run, the biggest run on my list so far.  10km.  And thankfully when I finally did it, I did it without dying or being chased by a giant pregnant dog.  (yes, that happened on my last run.)  But it’s still not even halfway to the 13.1 miles I’ve signed up for this summer.  (Blech.  Why on earth is everyone doing half-marathons right now?  I would much rather do a beach marathon where we risk our lives sitting out in the sun for as long as we can.  Isn’t that a form of endurance too?)  I think I could probably do it now if I did it over two days. A half-marathon with a big pause for coffee and cupcakes in the middle.

But even while running there is a little beauty if you look for it.  I saw a lot of wildlife-like 3 cats that came to say hello and a man who walked by with way too many dogs and a gorgeous view of Seattle (not captured very well in the above photo.  I didn’t want to stop running to take it so I just snapped it while I ran).  And despite having a zillion things on our jam-packed list yesterday, when I looked through my photostream last night, I realized that there we made some really sweet memories too.

I finally made the “Stanley Cup” the guys have been wanting.

It was promptly swept up and paraded around the rink.

The guys made May Day baskets at school.  Apparently you are supposed to put them on someone’s doorstep, ring the doorbell and run away.  How have I never heard of this?

We found the teeniest, tiniest wheelbarrow at the park.

And I realized that my guys are now the big crazy boys at the park.

We took some time to play Legos.  The guys had me cut eyes out so they could make their creations look like Bob the Builder.  I love that imagination means that you can pretend something is whatever you want it to be.

The hubby and I had a sweet late-afternoon date at Fresh Flours, one of our favorite little bakeries.  He likes the blueberry muffins.  I love the pear danishes.

And we played soccer at another park until it was time to go home to the lovely dinner I had pre-made.  was time to go get our weekly pho.  (How on earth does anyone actually make dinner properly these days?)

And even now I can hardly remember all the other busy stuff we had to do yesterday.  It truly is the little things in life that really count and it’s these sweet little moments I want to remember forever.
