I have been obsessed with flowers since my college days when my bus would take me past the most amazing flower shop I’d ever seen. It was called Garlands and my sister and I used to spend hours in that store just taking it all in.
And then a few years ago, or maybe quite a few years ago now (I think 2004 or 2005), the hubby and I ended up in New York when the Flower Show at Macy’s was going on and it was absolutely spectacular. I couldn’t believe this kind of thing could happen in a store and I really hope we can go back there one day while it’s happening again and have an actual digital camera this time.
So last week, when I had the opportunity to check out the Secret Garden displays in our own downtown Seattle Macy’s by Wendy Morgan of Ravenna Bloom I was totally excited. I love when stores get local talent to decorate and she made some spectacular arrangements.
I definitely got a few ideas of things I could do at home. I like how she used greenery in the bottom of the vase and I absolutely love the pretty pink blossoms she was using. (I just wish I remembered what they were called!)
And I was reminded that flowers just make everything so gorgeous. I’ve had my eye on the Edie Rose by Rachel Bilson collection for a while and I noticed these lovely hydrangea plates when I was shopping researching florals at Macys and maybe now is the perfect time to get them.
So they might be showing up in my house soon too. I love how flowers add such a lovely pop of color even on the most overcast days and I hope Macys does this kind of event again next year.
(PS. Every time I think of Rachel Bilson I still think of Summer from the OC. Did anyone else love that show???)
