Spread the love

You know how when you go to any big box store the minute Halloween is over you are already too late to buy Christmas things because Valentine’s Day stuff has already thrown itself up all over it?  Well, that is how I feel about Father’s Day.  ALL the men in the family (especially my grandpa!) are so difficult to buy for I have to start immediately after Mother’s Day or I’m never ready.  I think the perfect Mother’s Day gift would be a free pass for Father’s Day.

But that’s not what happened and I guess I’m okay with that because I did have the loveliest weekend.  The hubby and I got all fancied up for a work event

and the best babysitters in the world hung out with my guys.

We visited the new cheetah exhibit at the Woodland Park Zoo

and hung out with the penguins.

My sis made macarons with the boys (using the Sprinkle Bakes recipe book)

and then showed me how to make Haupia pie.

We also had a delicious breakfast at the Tillicum Place Cafe.  I’d only been there for dinner and drinks before and it’s one of my favorites, but now I think it has one of the best breakfasts in Seattle.  My dutch baby pancake was delicious!dutch baby pancake at Tillicum Cafe

So now it’s Monday, and I miss my sister tons and the hubby has an upcoming trip that he is convinced he needs a backpack for so I think that will definitely be his Father’s Day present and I’ve spent the last hour eating leftover pie and researching so I’d love some input.

This one is from a fancy Seattle company, so that makes me happy.  It’s a little rugged.  But pricey.  I guess it’s a luxury backpack.

(And the hubby will be wearing either a blue or grey jacket if that helps you help me decide.)

And how did I not know Herschel Supply came from Vancouver?  (That’s my hometown and I always have serious hometown love.)

This one is perfect, I think, and then I can get this flowery one for me too!

(Because we’re shopping Father’s Day the day AFTER Mother’s day after all and it will help with shipping costs…)

This one might win because it’s packable.  If you’re not using it you can fold it up into something the size of a laptop sleeve.

And I know he’s mentioned he likes this Thule backpack:

But I like this Timbuk2 one better

and it has a neat TSA approved feature for laptop sleeves so you can keep your laptop in your bag when you go through security and it’s okay.

So what do you think?  Which backpack would be the best for my hubby and please send me any other options you might think will work.  And I’d love to hear how YOUR mother’s day went-I really hope you had a great weekend too!
