Do you have a copy of this book, the Dahlia Bakery Cookbook?

It’s one of my favorites and so is its namesake bakery, the Dahlia Bakery in Seattle, Washington, where you can find many of the recipes from the book in baked form on any given day.  I’ll probably try and make the pumpkin pie recipe for Thanksgiving in a few weeks-it’s always a hit in our house but I’m also thankful that the bakery is not too far from where I live too if I get lazy, give up and just decide to buy one and PRETEND I made it this year.  (We’ll see how busy Thanksgiving gets…..)

Macy’s has also been a holiday tradition in my household ever since I moved to Seattle from Vancouver, BC long ago.  We do not have a Macy’s in Canada, so my mom, my sister and I love to shop together there when they visit-we love hunting for deals and fun finds on the sale racks and we have closed the store on many occasion while hanging out in the downtown Seattle housewares department.  We also love the day-after Thanksgiving parade; I think my kids have only missed it once since they were born.

So I love that Tom Douglas and Macy’s have teamed up to give shoppers a private dinner and a copy of the Dahlia Bakery Cookbook and it’s really easy!  A pair of tickets costs $100 or you can purchase $100 worth of Home Department product at Downtown Seattle Macy’s starting October 27th until November 5th to receive the tickets FREE, as well as a $10 Macy’s gift card and a copy of Chef Douglas’ book, The Dahlia Bakery Cookbook.  The dinner is on Thursday, November 5th, 2015 at 6pm and you RSVP to 1-877-556-2297 beginning October 27th-November 5th 7am-4pm PST Mon-Sat and 10am-3pm PST on Sunday 11/1.

And of course you can find more information here as well as see more about Macy’s Culinary Council who organizes events with chefs at Macy’s like this one.

I think participating is a great way to do get some awesome time with an amazing Seattle chef. I’ve been to a dinner at Macy’s before with Tom Douglas and it was a really fun event with delicious food and I learned a lot of cooking tips too.

If you are planning on doing some holiday shopping in the next few days, this is an fantastic way to make your dollars go farther and get a great experience in the process.  If you end up going, I’d love to hear what you think!

  1. This looks amazing! I wish I could attend the dinner on the 5th – but have another event! I’ll have to stay in the loop for the next dinner. Great post!
