Wing Luke Museum and a pasta lunch (Seattle, WA)

Spread the love

Thanks to our lovely Mohai membership we’ve been visiting a bunch of local museums lately that we’ve never stopped into before.  It’s not that I haven’t wanted to, but with kids sometimes we only have a short time to visit a place and it gets expensive doing that when you pay full-price.  This time the price-tag at the Wing Luke Museum was a lovely FREE because of our Mohai membership (it’s the Family Plus one)and now I know where it is and how lovely it is we’ll definitely be back.

There is a lot to see and we were a little overwhelmed in the short time we spent there.  My guys really enjoyed the scavenger hunt they were given at the reception and I was awed by the giant hallways that made it feel like we were outside, even though we never left the museum.  I really loved Jamie Ford’s Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet and I totally want to do the tour (and all the other tours for that matter!) here one day and our visit reminded me of how much of Seattle history we haven’t delved into as a family yet. I think if I come again by myself before I bring the kids back, I’ll have a chance to read a little more about each exhibit and help them get a better experience too.

But honestly, the main reason why our visit was so short was because we were actually trying to slip in a lunch at Il Corvo because it was a weekday and it’s literally a two-minute drive away.  Il Corvo has amazing pasta (arguably the best in Seattle) and opens at 11am so if you get there close to opening you can still get a table and not feel too guilty about eating their with kids.  My guys LOVE the cheese sauce-maybe it’s called Bianca?-that’s always on the menu and the Foccacia is to die for.  So yes, we made it in and finished and wiped the sauce off our faces just as a long line started to make it’s way through the restaurant and out the door.

I’d like to repeat a day like this any day soon.
