Birth week, the Space Needle and a Lunar Orbiter

Spread the love

The guys’ turned 6 this week and as usual our birthday celebration has exploded into a birth week celebration and the guys requested that we eat at the Space Needle for their family night dinner. It’s busy in the summer so I made a reservation a couple weeks before and it was pretty booked up already but thankfully the 5pm reservation is perfect for families with young kids. (I also put that the boys were celebrating a birthday in the notes section on Opentable and everyone who greeted us said Happy Birthday to them and the guys felt totally special!)

There were actually many young kids in the restaurant when we were there-and another little girl beside us was also celebrating her birthday too!  My guys couldn’t get over the fact that our table area revolved and they watched all their favorite places in the city go by.  They were given little stickers that they could stick on the window and the Bean proudly wrote “I’m 6!” and sent it on its way:

i'm 6

I couldn’t believe we could see the top of the new solar flowers at the Science Center from the Space Needle. It’s neat to get a different perspective of the city from high above and I think sometimes we take for granted what a gorgeous city we live in!

The guys also really liked the glass elevator up to the restaurant because we just finished Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and it reminded them of the Great Glass Elevator.

The kids’ meal has a lot of great options like space noodles or wild salmon and ranges from 10-15 dollars (but includes admission to the observation deck too!). The hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the view just made everything extra special. (FYI:When we go out to eat at a new restaurant with kids, I usually check out the menu beforehand to see what I’m going to order because I never get to fully look at the meal when they’re around.  I already knew I was going to order the salmon and it was really good!)

At the end if our meal we ordered the ‘lunar orbiter,’ a dessert the friendly guy who checked us in at the bottom said to make sure we ordered.  I’m so glad he told us! It was amazing and I can’t believe we had never seen it before-it’s been around since 1962!

The boys really enjoyed their birthday meal and I’m really glad we chose to celebrate it at the Space Needle: I think it was an experience they will remember for a long time!
