Spread the love

I’ve always found Bellingham to be a great stop between Seattle and Vancouver, but it’s even more perfect now that I’ve figured out that the Whatcom Museum has free admission if you have a MOHAI family plus membership.  (Oh, how I love my MOHAI membership and make sure you get the family plus if you want North American Reciprocal Museum benefits.)

My guys and I stopped there for a short visit on a recent trip to Vancouver because I’ve been trying to check out EVERY Washington museum on my MOHAI reciprocal list and we ended up spending a good hour in the children’s area of the museum.  There were things to build and climb and explore and my two 6-year olds really enjoyed it.  The Whatcom Museum is not a huge museum, but there was a lot to see and it was definitely entertaining and a great place to stretch our legs and have a bit of fun together.  (It’s also a fantastic stop to remember if it’s raining on our next journey too!)

We also lunched nearby at Avenue Bread in Fairhaven which was conveniently located near an adorable toy shop.

And we picked up a giant donut at Rocket Donuts. (It was under 5 dollars and filled this WHOLE box!)

We’ve also really enjoyed pizza from la Fiamma and ice cream from Mallard Ice Cream when we’ve stopped in Bellingham on other visits.

And if you find yourself heading to Bellingham and you need some more ideas for exploring with kids, you definitely need to check out a blog I read called Bellingfam too!

We make the journey between Vancouver and Seattle quite frequently and it’s always neat to find new places to stop.  If you have any favorites, I’d love to hear about them too!
