Spread the love

As a Seattle family who lives close enough to bike to the heart of the city, we haven’t stayed at a ton of Seattle hotels and I keep getting asked by visitors who are heading here about where they should stay.  I was totally excited to be invited to the Loews hotel 1000 with my kids when the hubby had to work a few weekends ago so we could go check it out in real life-I had been to the hotel for an event before and I’ve seen some awesome pictures of the rooms but I’ve never stayed there.  Being right downtown in the heart of Seattle made me really feel like we were living the local life and I was super happy when I realized that a few of my favorite Seattle based stores-Moorea Seal, Cone and Steiner and Watson and Kennedy are right next door to the hotel.  It was also really nice to spend some time with my guys on a trip even though it was in our own city and I love how even traveling to places close to home brings us closer as a family.

A hotel with a central location in Seattle

If you are a visitor to Seattle or even a Seattleite like me, the Loews Hotel 1000 is in such a great location.  You can easily walk to the Seattle Art Museum (where right now “Like a Hammer” by Jeffrey Gibson is showing and it’s such a fantastic exhibit.) Pike Place Market is also less than a 10 minute walk away and in the other direction you can easily get to Pioneer Square as well (where Lady Yum has recently opened up another delicious dessert cafe and you have to check out General Porpoise Doughnuts and Flora and Henri too.). The Seattle Sounders were playing the night we visited and I realized this would be only about a 15 minute walk away if you were heading to the game.

Attention to details at Seattle Loews hotel

There is nothing like trying to find enough bedside plugs in hotels these days and our room at the Loews Seattle hotel had some on both sides of the nightstand so that all of our devices could charge overnight.  The bathroom also had a very open room layout-there is a huge glass window framing the tub and it makes the room feel really spacious and when I first saw this, I was extremely glad that the shower and toilet both had frosted glass doors for privacy. I didn’t think that I would get to use the tub at all but the kids soon found the button for a shade that came down to create a wall on the window between the room and the tub and then we were all thrilled that our room had the “coolest bathroom ever.”  They were even more excited when they realized that the water for the tub came down from a spout in the ceiling instead of on the wall like a traditional tub.  With all these cool features, I definitely didn’t hear any complaints from my troops when I told them to have a bath before bed.

Can we talk about breakfast at the All Water Seafood and Oyster Bar?

Remember when I said the whole hotel has a lot of attention to details?  This is the same in the Loews Hotel 1000 restaurant, the All Water Seafood and Oyster Bar where even the floor tiling when you enter is totally on point with the name of the restaurant spelled out in brass on the mosaic tile.  I also noticed that there are a bunch of great windowseat booths that are perfect for families.  For people with short legs like me who don’t always like to dangle, there is even a footrest that makes sitting here even more comfortable.  The breakfast menu has a good selection of savory and sweet dishes and I noticed Beecher’s cheese and Dungeness crab highlighted in a few entrees too.  The kids were excited that the kids’ menu had lots of choices and both of them were really happy about their breakfast choices.  We also couldn’t help but watch as a couple near us joyfully received their meal and took photos: “It’s my first Croque Madame!”

It was so nice to wake up to breakfast and not have to walk too far for a delicious meal and being in a beautiful environment where everyone around us seemed pretty content made the experience a good one as well.

Wander Your Way at Loews hotels

Loews has a few cool promotions going on where you are encouraged to “wander your way” while you travel in a city. Do you want to book family time or a couples retreat for your Seattle trip?  Are you looking to embrace the season or escape the weather? We had a great staycation in our city checking out the Seattle Art Museum, eating a yummy breakfast, wandering through some local stores and hanging out in our room together.  If you’re headed to Seattle, this is definitely a hotel with a great location to help you wander your way.

(PS. As mentioned before, my family and I were guests of the Loews Hotel 1000 and we had a great time and as always the opinions in this blog are my own.)

(PPS. if you are coming to Seattle with kids and are looking for places to eat and things to do, I have a giant list of my favorite Seattle things that might help!)
