When you cook with kids there is so much time spent moving chairs around so they can reach the counter or being careful with things like eggs or cups of milk or half-opened bags of chocolate chips so that gravity doesn’t become your worst nightmare.
I learned early on that with two guys wanting to help in the kitchen it’s sometimes the easiest just to cook on the floor. (Yes I see that little measuring spoon on the floor but I swear we didn’t pick it up and use it.)
So I found this recipe a while ago in my Savory Sweet Life Cookbook and have been dying to try it. You have to be pretty confident to name your cookies the BEST ever and they were called THE BEST EVER CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES. And normally I’d be intrigued but pass over something like that-how many times do you see something call itself out as the best and be underwhelmed?-but so many things in this cookbook have turned out to be the BEST ever (like the frosting, the cinnamon buns, some yummy salad dressings and other delights) that it’s definitely on my favorite cookbooks list (along with Smitten kitchen and my mom’s of course.)
And even though I made them on the floor and with two 4-year-olds who measured some things and sampled others these cookies turned out amazing. They were perfect; crispy and delicious-y soft at the same time and they made me look like a baking superstar.
I’d like to make someone a superstar too. I don’t really want to send cookies in the mail to prove how great these are, so If you comment below with your favorite kind of cookie or a tip for when you cook with kids I’ll draw one name on June 15th 2013 and send that person their very own copy of the Savory Sweet Life Cookbook to try.
(Ps. Easy extra entries if you follow me on Facebook or twitter too!)
(Pps this is my own giveaway because I like to share the things I love with people I love-thanks for taking a little time out of your day to stop by. I can send it to the USA or Canada.)
