This is what I was looking for kids in Cancun:
A giant kid-sized water-park with loungers nearby. And of course it had to come with a hotel. This one comes with the Grand Bahia Principe in Coba and it recently opened just a few months ago. (And I’m in love with the Coba ruins. We didn’t get here this time but the hubby and I went 12 years-12 YEARS!!!!-ago.)
All we wanted to do this time is sit and drink in the sunshine while we watched the kids play.
So this was perfection and the lifeguards here were really insistent that grownups and big kids DID NOT go down the slides with the kids. Oh darn I guess that means just sitting and watching while lounging-if you insist, I guess I must. (I just made sure the kid stayed on the same side as the loungers so I could see them. I think this park was designed for the under-10 set and the best time to visit was usually early in the morning.)
The hotel was very kid-friendly. It was all-inclusive and the guys really liked the Kid’s Buffet in the main buffet restaurant.
I think this would be really fun to visit again with family and friends because it was all-inclusive so meals were really easy and there were many places to just hang out. (When we travel with just our family, we usually prefer smaller hotels so we can explore the area. I saw some really cute places in Tulum that I might check out the next time we come.)
But we came here for the pool.
Fruity drinks.
And some wildlife. (Yes, I saw pictures of kotamundis and iguanas here, so that totally made me book this place too)
There was even a little “Lion King” production by the pool one day:
And trams for the guys to ride.
So this hotel worked out just right.
(PS. we rented a car so we could explore the area and here are a few fabulous things that we found nearby!)
