Ice cream season has only just begun and this one is a clear best ice cream in Seattle EVER. (According to me, of course.)
I’m referring to the mint gelato from Bottega Italiana and it might not even count as ice cream because it’s technically gelato but it is the PERFECT treat for a sunny day like the ones we’ve been having. And no, I’m not a certified ice cream expert, but I’ve definitely tasted a lot of it in this city and I like this one because it is light and refreshing like a sherbet, but creamy like an ice cream and it doesn’t taste one-bite-closer-to-the-light-deadly or chocolate-chippy (it’s MINT not chocolate chip mint after all) and even writing about it is making me slightly drool.
It is so good that it was totally sold out by the time I went back early in the day to try and have it for the 2nd day in a row. I ‘settled’ for scoops of mixed berry and lemon that were pretty amazing.
But they were not mint.
So now I’m trying to figure out how to work a visit into tomorrow’s schedule. This addiction scares me, but at least I can counteract it with a bike ride, and because it’s practically in Pike Place market, I might be able to convince myself I’m heading there for healthy vegetables or fruit and just happen to take a wrong turn into the gelato store or maybe if I fall off my bike, it would make sense that I would need some ice……cream.
The mint is that good.

I’ve never heard of Bottega Italiano! Going to have to check it out.
