Macy’s in Seattle has been such a big part of my holiday season since we moved here over a decade ago. I remember the excitement of shopping with all the beautiful decorations at the store and how it made shopping all that more special. The kids and I still love watching the star light up downtown and the train in one of the big picture windows is one of our highlights of the season so I am really excited about these two events next week in downtown Seattle that will get you geared up for the holidays too!
The first event is on November 11th and this is something you need to go to if you love dessert like I do. From 1-3pm in the Home department at Macy’s Downtown Seattle, there will be afternoon coffee and treats and a holiday dessert-making demonstration from Toni Keene, Macy’s Downtown Seattle’s house chef. I’ve heard about her famous Frango pie and if you spend $35 dollars in the Home department that day you can go home with one of her whole frozen pies (one per customer while supplies last!) and I totally need to go and get one too. The first 50 attendees will also receive a special gift! I didn’t realize but Toni actually has cooking demonstrations 5 days a week in the downtown Seattle Home department at Macys with samples and I love learning to cook so I need to check this out. I love when stores make shopping a fun experience like this!
Another free event you will want to see if you are in downtown Seattle on November 12th at 1pm is a fabulous one from Macy’s Culinary Council with chef Nancy Silverton who will be making recipes from her new cookbook Mozza at Home. The event is free but you need to RSVP and you can use this link here.
She will be demonstrating some tips and tricks to making some fabulous dishes and I am so excited to see what she creates! Also, if you make a $35 dollar purchase in the Macy’s Home Deptartment at the downtown Seattle store on November 12th you’ll get a copy of her new cookbook to take home too! (While supplies last of course too!) And if you’re curious about other Macy’s Culinary Council events, check out their twitter @culinarycouncil!
I love learning from the experts and I am a cookbook addict so this is the perfect type of event for me. Hope to see you there! Do you have something you make during the holidays or a family favorite dish for the season? And have you ever watched the star light up in downtown Seattle during the holidays?

Frango pie sounds amazing! I worked at Macy’s in college and I loved their Frango chocolate! I’m bummed that I’ll be out of town next weekend and won’t be able to make it to these events. They sound like a lot of fun!
Oh my goodness, I would go just so I could take home a Frango pie. We have a yummy recipe for one, but would love to try her version!
