This is a sponsored post on behalf of the Madison Reed Color Bar at the Village at Totem Lake in Kirkland and as always the opinions on this blog are my own.
In the midst of lockdown last year I saw some ads in my Facebook feed about Madison Reed hair products and I bought some to cover my grays and to tone my hair. I think it might have been seeing Teri Hatcher trying out the products that convinced me to buy them-she made the process seem really easy. And I think it truly was. I could have tried to do my roots by myself but my husband was home and helped me and I liked how my hair turned out. (My husband even bought tools last year to cut our kids’ hair and he’s now been cutting their hair for over a year.) It’s really convenient and time-saving to be able to take care of our hair a bit on our own at home and we never would have found that out if we hadn’t had to stay at home for hundreds and hundreds of days.
Madison Reed now has a Color Bar shop near Seattle at the Village at Totem Lake in Kirkland
And then recently I was invited to try out a new Madison Reed Color Bar that just opened up in the Village at Totem Lake in Kirkland about a 20 minute drive from downtown Seattle. I haven’t been to this area in a little while and it has become a really cool shopping center. There is ample parking and shops and eateries that I’d like to spend more time visiting on a future visit. There are even a bunch of places that are still “opening soon” like a bubble tea store called “Don’t Yell at Me” that I know my kids will want to go to and Silver Lake Ramen that sounds pretty yummy too. Madison Reed is in the Terrace area just down from the Lululemon shop between Anthony Vince’s Nail Salon and Zumiez’s. The store is brightly lit and welcoming. I like the “Hello Beautiful” sign inside.
Easy to make appointments you can schedule online
I arrived at my morning appointment which was made for me, but you can easily make this appointment online too. From the Madison Reed website you can look for a Color Bar in your area (this new one at Totem Lake is currently the only one in Washington) and then you can choose from a variety of appointments from roots, roots and gloss, or roots and Balayage highlights. You can also choose if you are going to get a blow dry (around $25) or self dry at their self-dry station (complimentary) and pick a date and time that works for you.
And the Madison Reed Color Bar at the Village at Totem Lake feels really well cleaned.
I was the only person in the Color Bar when I arrived and there was hand sanitizer at the door. When I checked in and my professional colorist took my temperature with a tool that hovered above my wrist. I also noticed that the seats in the Color Bar had laminated signs saying “ready” on them suggesting that they had been cleaned and sanitized. Another person arrived during my appointment and we were seated apart from each other too. Everyone was wearing masks. I rotated through three stations: one where my hair was colored, the next at the wash station and then in front of a mirror to get blowdried and all of the stations were tidy and clean. There was also an option to do my own blow-drying and the stations for this also looked like they had good care too.
And the results?
The whole process took about three hours for the balayage treatment (we used the light works “Lazio-cool toffee” on my hair) and a blow dry and I really liked the results. My hair felt so soft too! I was given a profile and the products used were saved in it so I could even buy them if I wanted to use them at home. I had to get back to the kids and dog but next time I think I might plan for a bit of shopping in the area after my appointment. And I also really appreciated that parking was plentiful and free. Do you take a car selfie after getting fresh hair too?
