Have you heard of Lomi?
Today my Lomi home composter arrived and I’m so excited to try it out. This machine comes from my home province of British Columbia in Canada and I’m so so excited to try it out. This machine is a home composter that is supposed to be “odor free, pest free and mess free”. We are trying so hard to reduce our food waste as well as compost at home but this summer we had a lot of fruit flies in our little compost bucket on our counter. And sometime the container I store the food waste in on my counter looks a little grimy too. So when I heard about this Lomi that can get rid of food waste in four hours I was absolutely dying to try it out.
Unboxing the machine
My son and I unboxed the Lomi in the first week of December 2022. Here is our unboxing post and how our first use went.
Using this home composter over time
We are starting our Lomi journey in December 2022 and I’ll try to update weekly at first and link posts here so you can see how we use Lomi over time. I’m really hoping that by starting now, we’ll have good soil in our garden for the spring as well as reduce the amount of waste we put outside for the city to compost. I think it’s also really important for my family to see how we’re connected to our environment in this way. We also want to use it at the cabin where we don’t have access to composting and trash pick up like we do in the city. We usually bring our waste home and separate the composting from the trash, but we’re hoping the Lomi helpsmakes this an easier task.
