Every time we head to Vancouver the list of places we love grows. It feels like there are always new coffee shops popping up and because we have family and friends that live there we always get good recommendations-the only thing we ever lack is time. And even though we have family in the area, we also like finding family hotels in Vancouver BC. It is a really kid-friendly city! The last time we headed up a lovely friend (thanks S as always!) told me to try a coffee shop called Matchstick Coffee Roasters and it was absolutely fantastic. They serve homemade bread and pastries and their yogurt parfait was just exquisite.
We’ve stayed at many hotels in Vancouver (our most recent was at the Georgian Court downtown) and we’ve been fortunate to have some great stays. Three that have stood out are at L’Hermitage, Sunset Inn and the Residence Inn downtown. For L’Hermitage, we found a great deal on Expedia and our suite was large and wonderful. The kitchen was gorgeous and the kids really enjoyed the outdoor pool even though it was freezing outside when they went. We haven’t stayed at the Sunset Inn in a long time, but it’s still one I think of fondly and need to re-visit and it has suite rooms that have been really helpful with our kids too. They don’t have a pool and that’s become one thing the kids really like on our holidays. And that’s why we’ve enjoyed our stays at the Residence Inn downtown. They have a pool and they also have suite-like rooms that make it easy to eat in if the kids don’t feel like going out to dinner. The saddest part is that breakfast is included because I don’t get to go out and eat breakfast somewhere else because the three guys in my family like eating there. But I’m happy that we found another coffee shop just around the corner-it’s called Musette Caffe and it’s absolutely adorable.
It’s very bike-themed and people even just bring their bikes right in. The kids table is so sweet and there’s foosball in the back. The pastries and coffee there are really good too. Next time I want to try their yogurt parfait in a jar.
I’m totally looking forward to our next Vancouver visit and I’ll definitely keep you updated if any more hotels or coffee shops catch our eye. Have you been here recently and found something delicious? I’d love to hear!
