Maybe it’s because I have kids who love to wake up pre-dawn even after 10 years of being on this earth or maybe it’s because I’m getting older but I am always on the look out for things to make me look more energized, fresh and awake. I love all the skincare things. I’m into Korean beauty products. And now I’m totally into eyelash extensions because I was invited to try them out at the new Lash Lounge Bellevue location and they turned out pretty fabulously and I survived my appointment. (I noticed that there is still a new customer offer on the front page of the website that you might want to check out if you are going to try them!)
How long does it take to get Eyelash Extensions
I was a little apprehensive before getting my eyelash extensions done because I heard it would take around an hour and a half to two hours. I can barely lay down long enough for a facial and I didn’t think I would be able to keep my eyes closed for the whole time. I also get a little anxiety because I’m scared of enclosed spaces and being in the dark. I talked to my Lash Lounge Stylist about this before we began and she reassured me that if we needed to we could stop and I could open my eyes. I could even get up to go to the bathroom if I wanted to (I didn’t). So this helped a ton. There was also music playing in the background and hearing different songs playing helped me know guess how much time had passed so it didn’t feel like a infinite time void. I wonder if next time I listened to a book on Audible if that might be something I could do to pass the time as well. The initial appointment for eyelash extensions takes a long time because each of the fake eyelashes must be glued to a real eyelash. If you get refills these appointments take less time and cost less because you don’t have as many eyelashes that need to be applied.
How long do eyelash extensions last?
I bought the alcohol and oil-free makeup remover from the Lash Lounge just because I wanted to make sure I did everything right. My technician mentioned that my eyelashes naturally shed 1-5 eyelashes every day and about 20% of my eyelashes every week and sure enough I’ve seen a few eyelashes that have fallen out. Refills can be scheduled every 2-3 weeks to freshen up the initial eyelash extension application and these appointments take less time. I like how my eyelash extensions look more natural than traditional fake eyelashes-I haven’t had to use eye makeup and I think I’ve looked more awake in the morning and if I’ve squished my eyelashes while sleeping I just brush through them with a clean mascara brush.
How dangerous are eyelash extensions for my eyes?
Like any other beauty product you always have to evaluate what works for you and your body when you try something new because everybody on this planet is different and unique. Since I have had a ton of eye problems in my life, I was a little worried about getting eyelash extensions done. Thankfully I had an eye exam scheduled the same week I got my eyelashes done so I asked the eye doctor to check them out. My eye doctor told me that they looked fine and that it was important to keep them clean and that most of the problems that he saw with eyelash extensions happened because people were allergic to the glue. This normalized a lot of my fears. He also told me if I was going to continue to do this I needed to make sure to go to someone who does this professionally and that I probably should give my eyelashes a break at some point if I became a regular. I’m glad I talked with my eye doctor and I think this might be a helpful step if you are worried about getting eyelash extensions too.
Will I continue to keep getting eyelash extensions?
So far it’s been about 2 weeks and my new eyelashes still look like they are doing okay. For research sake, I’m going to see how long it takes for them to completely fall out but there is also a big part of me that wants to get them refilled because they’ve been pretty fun and then I’d get to have pretty eyelashes for another couple weeks. I like that I haven’t had to wear eye makeup and they have been surprisingly comfortable. I think the cost is something to consider over time-it’s pretty pricey to keep them up for weeks on end and I don’t have a ton of extra time to go every two weeks or so to keep them refilled. (I can barely upkeep my hair…..) So I think for me, I will remember that this is something like a facial that makes me feel good, and if I have a special occasion where we are getting pictures taken I would totally do this again. I’m just thankful that I survived this appointment and loved the result and now I know I can do eyelash extensions I don’t have to be scared of trying them out ever again.
(PS. I was invited to try out a classic set of eyelash extensions at The Lash Lounge in Bellevue for the purpose of review and as always the opinions and writing in this piece are my own. Thank you for having me Lash Lounge-I really love my lashes and how they look!)
