My family and I recently stayed at the Hilton Seattle downtown with Visit Seattle and before we stayed there I actually had no idea we even had a Hilton in Seattle-we do have a lot of hotels in the city. But on a rainy, wet and blustery Seattle weekend we were hosted in a connecting room suite on the 28th floor overlooking the city and this was our comfortable home base to go and see a Seattle Kraken hockey game.
We have a little yorkie poo pup who is about a year and a half and he came into our life because of the pandemic. Like many other travelers we now have to figure out how to incorporate Scout into our new travel lifestyle. Thankfully the Seattle Hilton is dog-friendly. We have family and friends who can take care of Scout and for the game we were able to pop him home for a bit. If that wasn’t a possibility, we would have considered trying Rover to find care for Scout while we were at the game. We’ve found that the toughest part about traveling with a pup is the fact we can’t leave him in the room like we would at home and also that many restaurants have no pet-friendly spaces. It’s also difficult to find places in the city for pups to relieve themselves so I really hope this improves over time.
Higher floors at the Hilton Seattle have fantastic views of the city. There are 29 floors in this hotel and it is neat to see over many other buildings in the area. The lobby is on the 8th floor and there is a restaurant on this floor as well. We had breakfast included with our stay and we were able to take it up to our room so that we could eat with Scout. It was really rainy and windy the weekend that we stayed and eating in our room felt comfortable and it was nice to take in the city from a different viewpoint without being wet and cold. Having the ability to book connecting rooms with our teenage kids also gave us a little more room which is really nice when you are traveling too.
The Seattle Hilton is close enough to walk to many downtown sights so you might not need a car once you get to the hotel. We often order takeout from Mod Pizza and there is one conveniently located right across the street. Pike Place Market is about a 15 minute walk away. You can get to Westlake Center in about the same amount of time and because we had Kraken tickets we could take the Seattle Monorail for free to Seattle Center so the boys and I rode the Monorail to the game. I found out from the Seattle Monorail site that well-behaved pups can also take the Monorail so I really need to bring Scout on a ride one day too.
We have Hilton Gold status with our American Express so I am glad that I now know we have a Hilton in our city. We sometimes have events downtown and this would be a really convenient place to stay on some of those nights. I also included a bit about our stay in an article I wrote for the Visit Seattle blog too and if you want to contact me directly about my Seattle adventures you can follow along my instagram or learn more on my” about me” page too. We have lived here for many years now and we’re always exploring new things in our city.
