If you love Italy, you’ll want to know about Dalla Fonte, a subscription box that will bring Italy to you

Dalla Fonte Sicilian Tavola Box
Spread the love

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Dalla Fonte, an Italy subscription box based in Washington State that brings a bit of Italy to your home and as always the thoughts and writing in this blog are always my own.

How many times do we think about special places we’ve been to and want to go back there immediately when in reality we only get to go to these places maybe once or a handful of times in our lives. For my family, and probably many of you too, Italy is one of those places. We went for our first and only time when my kids were almost 10 years old. We ate pasta, pizza, and wandered through ruins and museums and even years later we talk about going back ALL the time. So I’m thankful that I heard about Dalla Fonte, a company started by a local Washington family that helps bring these memories back and also gives us inspiration for trips we might take one day.

What is Dalla Fonte?

I am a huge fan of subscription boxes and this one is more of a club full of Italian inspiration than just a box that arrives on your doorstep. I talked to Olivia, one of the founders of Dalla Fonte over Zoom and her family has deep roots in Italy, but like us, she also lives in Washington State. Dalla Fonte means “from the source.” And the subscription box idea was founded when we were all not able to travel to the places we love. By curating special products from different regions of Italy, she has created collections of intentionally lovely things in a beautifully designed box that can bring a lot of the feelings we have from when we’ve visited there or maybe even inspire us to visit if we’ve never been and these boxes come directly to our homes.

What is in a typical Dalla Fonte box?

You have two choices with the club-you can opt for a Tavola box or a Tavola and Vino box (this one is only available in Washington, Oregon, Florida and Alaska) and every quarter there will be a new regional theme. I received a Sicilian Tavola box plus vino box and it came with about 8 items and a bottle of wine. One of the items was not food but some beautiful olive wood aperitivo forks. I looked at some of the past boxes and realized that a couple of them also had one item that is not food, but something for the home and this is such a thoughtful idea. It’s nice to have something that can last long after the treats in the box have been consumed.

Another lovely thing about the Dalla Fonte box is these products aren’t all meant to be used at once, but you can also use them all at once too. I brought my box to Seabrook on a recent trip because it’s another place I love and I always have a bit more time to myself when I’m in Seabrook than at home. I thought I could eat some of the items with my family as well as share with my sister and her family and my mom and dad who who were also traveling to Seabrook with us and kind of make new memories with products that remind us of other fond memories too.

Isn’t it neat how some foods can bring you back to places you’ve been to and loved?

When we were in Italy years ago we took a pizza making class and our whole family had a fabulous time. We were whisked away to the Italian countryside where we learned to make pizza and then all the kids made gelato while the adults drank wine and then a bus took us back to the city with sleepy kids and full tummies. I thought of these moments a little bit as I made my guys the pasta with Sicilian Tomato sauce from this box and we ate this with the onion and raisin taralli too. We got some really delicious sourdough from the bakery in Seabrook and ate that with the Pistachio cream. And my mom, sister and I love things that taste like marzipan, so one afternoon they came over for tea and we had the Marabbissi classic almond amaretti and we devoured them too quickly. These little cookies were so good.

I still have the chocolates, olives and wine. I wanted to save them for a night after school starts when maybe friends come over and we celebrate a new year. Everything we tried from the box was really delicious and I love sharing things like this with friends and family who love food. And this would be perfect to share with someone who thinks fondly of Italy adventures as well. You can gift a box to a friend or family member without a subscription or order individual items you love from recent boxes too. (Subscription members get 10% off most purchases so make sure you sign in when you shop the Dalla Fonte online store.)

The new Dalla Fonte Puglia Tavola box is coming out any minute and I’m excited to see what the next box will bring. Have you ever been to Italy or is it a place you dream about visiting?

(PS Dalla Fonte has partnered with The Table Less Traveled to create Italy trips if you need help with your Italy travel dreams)

(PPS. I’ll be having a giveaway for a Tavola Box on my instagram pretty soon too so make sure you check that out too.)
