Things to bring to Seabrook if you are going there for a trip

Things to bring to Seabrook on a family trip
Spread the love

We finally made it to Seabrook this year and ended up making it a multigenerational trip this time just like we dreamed about when we first started visiting. My mom, dad, sister and her family rented a house, and our family rented a house and it was a great way to hang out with each other in a really beautiful place. Next year I’m hoping my aunt and uncle also come along with all of us too. Seabrook is a seaside community that is unique in that you can book a visit there in a centralized location like you would a hotel, but you rent houses of various sizes and designs. Picking which house we will stay in when we go to Seabrook is part of the fun of visiting here. And after this visit and bringing my family along I realized there are unique things to bring to Seabrook that you might need to think about before you go too.

Bring your bikes!

We had no idea how good the biking was here the first couple times we visited but there is really good trail biking in this area and it’s something we look forward to when we go. This time when my guys and I were packing, the teenagers managed to break a key in one of our bike locks and we couldn’t bring as many bikes as we wanted for this trip. But thankfully they have bikes to rent at Seabrook- my brother-in-law and parents ended up renting bikes at Buck’s which is really convenient. I have a post with bike trails at Seabrook if you’re curious about where you might ride here.

Dishtowels

Seabrook has full kitchens and they usually have most of what we need. What I’ve noticed the past couple times is that we never find dishtowels for drying dishes in the houses. And then I keep forgetting to bring them. So I pretty much made this list to remind myself never to forget dishtowels again. The line up at the bakery/coffee shop can be pretty long in the morning these days too so we do bring our Nespresso or French Press and a grinder when we go.

Beach Blanket

We have a really great beach blanket that we got at REI or someplace like that years ago. It packs really small and it’s pretty much just meant to be a barrier between your body, your stuff and the sand, and we really miss it when we forget to bring it. Many places have beach towels but we also usually bring a few of our own just in case. Because we travel here by car (Seabrook is only about 2.5 hours from Seattle) it’s usually easy to throw things like towels and a beach blanket in the car just in case.

Extra laundry detergent

We were given one packet of laundry detergent and we were there for 4 nights. We could have probably asked for more but I’m not sure-we usually bring some just in case. It’s really cool though that most of the places here have laundry especially if you are staying for a longer time. When we bike here we often end up needing to use the laundry more.

Pickle ball rackets

Pickle Ball is becoming so popular and there are even “introduction to Pickle Ball” classes at Seabrook. We brought our pickle ball rackets and one of the houses we were staying at had a couple we could use so we had 6 of us playing at once. You have to sign up for the courts and you can usually find times the day of or sometimes you have to book the day before. It’s really cool when we find things like pickle ball rackets for use in the house rentals. One house we had in the past even had bikes and a clam gun too.

Thankfully there are so many things now you can get at Seabrook. We forgot dog treats for Scout and found some at the Salty Dog. He ended up really loving these treats! The new grocery store: the Fresh Foods Market is very well stocked and some things were even less expensive than in our Seattle stores. It’s nice knowing that we don’t have to pack EVERYTHING we need for a week or a weekend when we visit Seabrook anymore.

PS. these two homes are still my favorites that we’ve ever stayed at in Seabrook, the one called Ocean Tales and this one that felt very Pacific Northwest.

And in 2023 there are a bunch of new shops and activities in Seabrook including Lorraine’s Candles and the cool Seabrook Arcade.
