Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel might be good value if you have a soccer tournament at Delta Park

Even if you don’t have a soccer tournament, you might check out the Sheraton Portland Airport for a comfortable, safe-feeling place to stay in the Portland area. I have Marriott Platinum Bonvoy status with my Bonvoy Brilliant card and if you do to, this hotel has a lounge so that is currently included with Platinum Status and we were given the choice between breakfast for 2 and a small amount of points. (I always choose breakfast-does anyone out there know if there is a benefit to choose the points amount?). Because we had a dog we didn’t get a room upgrade but we were able to get late checkout with our Platinum Bonvoy status too.

dog-friendly room on first floor at Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel

We chose this hotel because we were coming for a soccer tournament nearby and we found out last minute that the team hotel did not allow dogs.

We often have to travel with our 5 pound yorkie poo, Scout. Thankfully many hotels in Washington and Oregon are dog-friendly. At Sheraton’s pups are often welcome and at the Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel our pup was free of charge-we had to fill out a bit of information about him and sign a waver and learned apparently that dogs can only stay on the ground floor. If you are traveling with a pup to the Sheraton Portland Airport you might call first just in case they are busy to let them know you are bringing one along. (We didn’t call first and thankfully they had a room for us on the ground floor.)

We found earplugs on our bedside table and were a little worried it might be noisy, but on the ground floor we did not hear any airplane noise from our room. The room wasn’t very big but felt comfortable and roomy enough even with two 15 year old teenagers in tow.

If you are flying from PDX you might even get two weeks free parking with your booking.

We chose the Sheraton Portland Airport because it was close to Delta Park and the nearby fields where we had a soccer tournament. We also wanted to be close to downtown Portland but not stay in downtown Portland.

When I was writing this up, the Sheraton Portland Airport had a “Park here Fly there” rate that included free parking for 14 days and any day over the 14 was 10 dollars a day. You can find deals like this on the hotel website by checking the rates then clicking through the “deals and Packages” tab. Sometimes I forget to do this when I look for hotel rates through a booking agent like Expedia. You can often use Rakuten to get a percentage back as well when you book through the Marriott site.

icy drink while charging Tesla at the electric chargers at Ikea Portland

If you have an electric car there are electric car chargers and superchargers at Ikea nearby.

The Ikea is about 5 minutes drive away. Our kids were at a soccer event and we had our pup with us which limits our eating out options a bit so we grabbed a sandwich and charged our car while we had a car picnic. With the pup one day we found a dog-friendly patio at a really delicious Japanese restaurant called Takibi (affiliated with Snow Peak, the outdoor recreation brand) which was about 20 minutes away too. Takibi was nearby the Adidas Company Store which was sponsoring our soccer tournament (This is such a fun soccer tournament because the kids get to visit the Adidas Store to shop with their tournament pass too.)

And the lounge and breakfast were both lovely at the Sheraton Portland Airport hotel

We’ve been to a few less-than-optimal lounges lately so we found the lounge at Sheraton Airport Hotel very dreamy. There were lots of drinks and snacks (Tim’s chips and other treats) and the breakfast in the lounge had some really delicious choices. We were also given breakfast coupons for the hotel restaurant where we also enjoyed some really tasty meals. We could each choose an entree and a beverage and I had a breakfast burrito one morning that was perfect.

And yes, we would stay here again!

Our stay at Sheraton Airport hotel felt especially lovely-everyone we met working there was really kind. As I mentioned before, we booked last minute to play soccer at Delta Park (about 20 minutes away), and I think we had a fairly reasonable rate and found our stay convenient and thoroughly comfortable. Especially having Platinum Marriott Bonvoy status and traveling with our pup, the value here was really good and I would definitely stay here again.

(PS. we used to come to Portland a lot when the kids were small so I have a few posts about what we used to do, but this was just a quick soccer visit. Thankfully Portland is only a three hour drive from Seattle, so not too far.)
