Mmm Mmm went the little green frogs

Spread the love

If you are in Seattle on a rainy day in the winter, one of the most delightful places to hide away is in the Rainforest at the Woodland Park Zoo.  It is warm and cozy and full of neat exhibits to explore and our favorite exhibit is the Poison Dart Frogs.  It keeps us out of the rain and it’s dry and the animals here are really fun to watch too.  One December morning we were lucky enough to chat with the Frog Zoo Keeper and watch as he fed them their breakfast.

This little guy surprised us, we didn’t expect to find a frog in a little house.  I always thought some of these things were just decoration-it’s nice to see that it was being used.

A rain shower.

Not a frog.  This was the keeper taking care of where all the frogs lived.  He also put some food into the enclosure and we’ve never seen this before.

Everyone was mesmerized.  The little frogs ate what looked like little tiny crickets.

PS if you’re really into frogs, the zoo has a way you can volunteer to help with the local frog population.  Find out more here!
