My mom always blew out the insides of our Easter eggs and the thought of dropping an ancient hard-boiled stinky egg in my house terrifies me, so I’ve always blown out the insides of the eggs we decorate too. This way you can keep them forever and not worry about a putrid mess if you have an accident. This year we had other ideas for our eggs.
Yesterday, I had the guys bash the tops of the decorated eggs with shovels (they LOVED this by the way) and we used them as little planters for Quinoa starters for the garden. Hopefully the guys will remember this when I make them decorate eggs next year. (With two boys who don’t always like the arts and crafts I coerce them into doing, I have to get creative.)
What a great idea for the eggs! I might have some left to use as planters, too.
