I am running again and as much as I sometimes dread it, it is so good for my health-especially my mental health. I find that when I run, I feel empowered, in control and strong and sometimes it’s just a nice way to concentrate on myself after hanging out with the kids and all their daily activities. Sometimes the worst days feel so much better after a good run and I love that this activity is mine and mine alone. I keep looking up new routes and I find that when I run I get to see beautiful things that I might otherwise overlook during the day and I actually get to take them in and reflect as I put one foot in front of the other, breathe in and out and disappear into my thoughts.
I have a couple of runs this summer and if you’re running too, I’d love to hear so we can cheer each other on! (Sometimes there’s no better motivation than knowing someone else out there is hitting the pavement too!)
(PS. I guess this running thing has been a two-year journey and reading back to some first entries about running, I think I’ve come a long way!)
