**Sadly, Choukette is closed! There is something new popping up in the space….we’ll just have to wait and see what shows up!**
Every week I head to Pike Place Market and every week I could probably go to the same spots and be perfectly content. But because of my 52 weeks of market eating project, I’ve expanded my boundaries and I think it’s really helped me fully embrace all the new that is coming with the Market Expansion and Seattle Waterfront projects. There is definitely a lot of change coming to downtown Seattle in the next few years! And it seems like in the past few weeks a WHOLE BUNCH of new restaurants and businesses are popping up. This week I noticed Choukette, a delightful new eclair bakery, opened up right near Billie the Pig in the lower area of the market near Ugly Baby and La Rue.
Choukette is a gorgeous French-style patisserie with gourmet eclairs. I love bakeries that pay attention to gorgeous details. I like when my treats taste delicious but look beautiful too.
The pastry case in Choukette is stunning. I had trouble picking which eclairs I would bring home. And I really liked the carrying case my eclairs were packaged in.
I also enjoyed my latte. They make good coffee at Choukette which is important when you are eating something delicious like eclairs.
And I like that although this little place had no seating inside, there are tables and chairs outside that might bring a bit more attention to Billie the Pig. She’s not as well-visited as her cousin Rachel who lives in the upper market where the guys throw fish but she does amazing things for Pike Place Market too!
Have you ever eaten an eclair? I wonder if they’ll become as popular in Seattle as macarons…
(PS. I’m slowly eating my way through the market every week. You can see where I’ve been on my growing list.)
Terumi Pong is a Seattle-based family travel writer and mom of twin teenage boys. She loves coffee and pastries, shopping local and looking for greener ways to live. She is also known as Scout’s mom (Scout is a 5ish pound little black yorkie-poo)
I’ll have to say, I’ve never enjoyed eclairs but these delicious! A trip is in order! Thanks, Terumi!
I love following along with all your Pike Place eats, what a fun goal for 2016! My mom just told me about this tasty little spot, and I am dying to go home now and check it out. Huckleberry eclairs, anyone!? Talk about a marriage of my favorite places in the world! 🙂
Oh thanks so much! Yes, I can’t believe they have huckleberry-what a total Pacific Northwest flavor! Do you or your mom have a favorite market spot?
I don’t visit often enough to have a favorite, but I do love the piroshky shop! Delicious. 🙂
These look great! I’ve never been an eclair fan but I’m gonna have to check this out next time I’m in Seattle
This is such a great idea, eating your way through the entire market. I often get stuck going to the same places over and over again. I also know if can be quite the task as the Pike Place Market has SO MANY great places and foods to try.
I haven’t heard of this place yet! I am definitely going there next time I’m in Pike Place!
So excited to add this to my list of places to visit in the Market! I had no idea – what a great new twist on all of the donut & cupcake shops in the city. 🙂
We were just at Pike’s Place yesterday!!! I wish I would have known about this shop!!!!!! <3
I have never even heard about Billie the Pig!! I’ll have to check her out next time I brave a visit to Seattle. I live in the south sound and it’s such a headache to drive into Seattle with all the traffic they have now. I did grow up about 15 minutes from the Market and visited it frequently, I have to say I’m jealous of you for going every week!! What a fun and delicious challenge!
Ahhh I was in the market last Sunday and remembered this post. The shop was inexplicably closed when we arrived, despite being there during their regular hours. I was so disappointed to miss these beautiful eclairs, but hopefully it will still be around when I return. 🙂 Are you planning on continuing your Pike Place project into 2017?
Oh I’m so sorry you missed the shop. Sometimes the market stalls are like that-they don’t all keep regular hours. I’m so behind in updating my Pike Place Project-and I’ve been eating at a few places over and over again because it’s chilly and I crave comfort food;) delaurenti, le panier and pike place chowder. I’ll have something new up soon:) so glad you visited the market! The expansion opens next year too!
