Sometime around Easter after we’ve had enough snowstorms in the mountains and endless days of winter rain, little blossoms decide they’re going to erupt in Seattle like glorious hopeful confetti poppers to let us know that there is an end in site. And this is one of my favorite times to take spring photos with my kids. It seems like all over there are fields of fun flowers and cherry blossoms blooming and I love how my Instagram feed is full of spring pictures everywhere.
I love cherry blossom photos but I really think they’re more interesting with people in them. And it’s easy to take pictures of my kids because they’re usually with me.
I like shooting pictures of my kids in outfits that don’t have a lot of words or labels. I like them to wear kids’ fashion that complement the landscape in the pictures that I take but still let them express their individuality. I like Osh Kosh clothes because they’re stylish, comfortable and affordably priced. I like that we can mix and match styles from previous seasons. For example, I bought the pants and cardigan in the fall and mixed it with a more spring-like spring-like shirt. We’re spending part of spring in Australia so I’m glad these clothes can be layered and worn in Seattle or in Australia and I love how layering makes it easy to mix and match fun styles.
One of my guys really loves this palm tree shirt I picked up and it is so perfect for sunny skies and palm trees in Australia but I like how it layered in Seattle for pictures with the cherry blossoms too. He also brought his new shark polo shirt along for the trip. I still pick out and buy most of my guys’ clothing but they are in charge of what they pack for trips and how they style themselves.
When I want to take pictures for our Christmas cards or to send to family members, I make sure we’re armed with props so that we all have more fun. For these spring cherry blossom photos, the guys chose to bring their scooters and Pokemon Go.
I wish I could tell you how I love using a fancy lens too, but I’ve been loving shooting with my phone lately. It’s so much easier to just grab it and run. I use apps like Snapseed, Be Funky and WordSwag to play around with and edit my photos. I love looking for pretty afternoon light and in spring that is usually easy to find-even in Seattle. I find that this time is when we also have the least chance of rain. And we’ve had a lot of rain lately, so I was pretty lucky that we had some sunshine when I got these pics.
I’d love to send a little sunshine your way too! If you comment below about your favorite time of year or place to take pictures with your kids I will draw one name on May 15th, 2017 for a $50 Osh Kosh gift certificate. If you want an additional entry, please share this post and comment on the post that you ‘shared’. I love being able to share things like this with my readers!
And here’s a coupon too!
(PS. I wish it was spring in Australia, but it is FALL here! It’s crazy how different places in the world have different seasons at different times!)

I love summer photos with the fishing boats near Garry Point Park in Steveston.

Summer!! Swimming, playing in the garden, eating icecream!! Nothing beats an August summer day sitting on a patio drinking a glass (or two) of rosé!!
I’m a sucker for a good Seattle view! I love Kerry park in Queen Anne in the summer. Sharing!!!
