Spread the love

PS it’s 2024 now and while I love using my smartphone for pretty much everything, lately in Seattle, it’s felt really expensive to get delivery through food delivery apps.  I haven’t had anything delivered in months now but just the other day I had a late meeting and my husband was out of town and I got a Panda Express message for some kind of family meal deal so I checked to see how much delivery would be and it was around or under $5 and there weren’t all the extra fees I’ve seen in the apps recently and the family meal deal saved me a little bit on the food.  So I scheduled a delivery (yes you can even schedule in advance) and the food came right on time.  So as of now in Seattle, I’m only ordering Panda Express unless people message me and tell me there are other inexpensive delivery places that I should try too.

Here is the old article:

A little while ago I accepted a partnership with Verizon for their #bettermatters campaign for 2018 because we’re always on the go and I love that Verizon gets coverage in areas that I didn’t think I could still be connected.  This kind of network makes me really feel secure and it allows me to be more adventurous in my daily activities which is so important as a mom of 9-year old twin boys.  So now I have a Google Pixel 2 and I’m learning about so many things I can do with my smartphone.  The crazy thing is I did not a smartphone when I was a new mom of twins (they weren’t totally a thing back then) and I can’t imagine what my then-self would say about all the things I can manage with my smartphone now.  One of my favorite life-changing salvations has been the rise of take out food delivery apps.  This would have been such a dream back then when I was tired, hungry and stuck at home with two little babies.  We don’t have babies anymore but our lives still seem incredibly busy.  Sometimes we are hungry but can’t bring ourselves to make a disaster in the kitchen or go out for a few hours in a day to have a nice sit down meal.  Because of this, I love my take out food delivery apps and I can’t imagine life without them.  I’ve included a few that are popular in Seattle and some things we like to order as well.

The best takeout food delivery apps in Seattle

TryCaviar App

TryCaviar has become my new favorite app in Seattle because it has a lot of trendy restaurants I’ve been dying to try and some of the ones in my delivery area are reasonably priced and delicious.  Prices for delivery increase depending on the distance the restaurant is away from your house which seems pretty fair.  We’ve tried Windy City Pie a couple times and the pizza is deep dish and dreamy.  I have also ordered a few salads for lunch-sometimes I order a couple so I have one for my next day’s lunch too.  Mamnoon and Sweetgrass Food Co are among my favorite IRL Seattle restaurants and they are on this app too!

Amazon Restaurants (sadly this one ended in June 2019 )

Amazon Prime Restaurants was one of my favorite go to take out food delivery apps from the beginning and I’m so sad that there is app no longer works.  We used to alternate between Thai Fusion and Plaza Garibaldi.  Thai Fusion is a restaurant my kids have been going to since they were little and Plaza Garibaldi once hosted one of our soccer parties and their food is good and it’s a kind family run business.  I’m tempted to order from other places, but with these two in the rotation, we’re pretty much set.  PS both of these restaurants let you order the kids’ meals too so the kids can still order their favorites.

Uber Eats App

I actually don’t order from Uber Eats but my husband uses it frequently when he’s downtown.  It used to be easier to get this one there than in our neighborhood but I’ve heard the area has expanded and I might be able to get more things.  I also learned that one of our credit card has perks that include Uber Eats and this made me check our other credits cards to see if they have perks too!  Sometimes credit cards have great deals and I saw some food delivery apps I didn’t recognize (like eat24?) that have partnerships like free delivery with our other cards and I’ll have to try them too.

Deliveroo

This one is not in Seattle but in Australia but I have to give it some mad props because when we used this delivery system on our trip last year, it made me realize that I can order trendy food easily almost ANYWHERE we go.  This is such a game changer when you travel with young kids and maybe stay in an Airbnb and are too tired at night to go out to a restaurant and make everyone behave but want to experience a cool place you’ve read about.  We tried quite a few neat restaurants on our trip and I can imagine that with the other apps I’ve listed above, someone could come to Seattle and have a similar experience.

Do you love that your smartphone has revolutionized your life as much as I do?  And do you use food delivery apps where you live?  If you’re in Seattle, I’d love to hear your favorite restaurants and what you order-we’re always looking for something new!

(PS. As stated above, I have written this post as part of my partnership with Verizon and as always the opinions and writing in this piece are always my own.)
