I booked the Lodge at Columbia Point for the TBEX conference in the Tri-Cities in Washington in April 2022. I hadn’t traveled alone for awhile and wanted a comfortable hotel with a balcony. I used Expedia to book a corner Grand Cru Riverfront Premium room and it was spacious, and clean and I knew I could cancel a few days before I needed to arrive just in case I changed my mind about attending the conference.
What are the amenities like at the Lodge at Columbia Point?
Wine tastings
I was told that twice a week there are wine tastings in the lobby of this hotel and they are often led by a local wine maker. One of the days I was visiting I walked by the tasting but I had just been to Hedges Winery as well as the Red Mountain Trails winery, so I did not join in.
Bikes
Bike Rentals are also included with a stay at the Lodge at Columbia Point and I borrowed one of the bikes to cycle along the riverfront. In April there were cherry blossoms blooming along the Columbia River and it was really lovely to be able to get out and about by bike for a little while. There is also a swimming pool that my kids would have really loved-it’s an open air swimming pool if you are concerned about air flow too.
Pet-friendly rooms
There are pet-friendly rooms that you can ask for ahead of time with a small service fee so Scout could come along on the next trip as well.
Free Parking
It is so nice to go to a hotel and not have to pay for parking. I appreciated that parking was free at the Lodge at Columbia Point.
Best rooms to book?
I had a top floor balcony room and really appreciated the views of the river from my balcony. I also noticed the ground floor rooms had sliding doors that could access the riverfront trail but I’m not sure if those sliding doors were lockable/unlockable from the outside or if you can only go in and out of your room securely through the hotel halls but I saw someone bring their bike in through the sliding door and thought the ground floor would be a good floor to be on if you had kids or a dog or a bike.
And how is the room service at the Lodge at Columbia Point?
I’ve been so disappointed with room service on so many trips but the room service from Drumhellers at the Columbia Point Lodge is perfect. I ordered a gnocchi entree and a salad that I devoured on my balcony and the gnocchi was so delicious I almost ordered it twice. There are quite a few restaurants and coffee shops within walking and driving distance of this hotel so that was really handy too. I also appreciated the fridge in the room-I like to bring things like carrots, fruit and yogurt on trips and having a fridge makes eating healthier so much easier.
The Lodge at Columbia Point is about a 3 and a half hour drive from Seattle. I broke up the drive by stopping overnight at our cabin in Snoqualmie Pass, and Suncadia might also be a really great place to stay overnight to shorten the drive too. I didn’t have time to hike this time but I would recommend the Windfarm in Ellensburg and the Gingko Petrified Forest/Wanapum recreation area if you have time on your way there too.
