After living in Seattle for nearly 20 years, we’re getting to be experts in this area. Like most people, we tended to travel far away more often than in our own state, until 2020 when we ONLY traveled locally and we’re only just starting to travel farther away again. I often get asked where the best places to stay in Washington State are so I have compiled a list of all the places we’ve stayed( and will keep adding to this list) if you’re looking for reviews of hotels and resorts in this area for you and your family. Please feel free to message if you have specific questions about hotels too. We now travel with a pup and so we’re more aware about asking about if a resort is dog-friendly or not lately as well.
My All Time Favorite Place to Stay in Washington State so far
The Inn at Langley was my most perfect place ever. It might have been because of the breakfast that was delivered to our room daily or the fact that the bathtub looked out over the water. Or that the chairs on our balcony were so comfortable that we bought them from West Elm for our house too. There were snacks that changed daily. And the room was so comfortable. We even had our twelve year olds and dog with us and I’d go back in anytime-it was the most relaxing, dreamy place I’ve ever been. (the hotel is dog-friendly but children under 12 were not allowed when we booked in 2021)
Bellevue Hotel Reviews
Hyatt Regency Bellevue-this place has Eques, our favorite breakfast buffet. If the Tiramisu pancakes are on the menu you really need to try them. This hotel is also a great home base if you are in the Seattle area around Christmas and want to see Snowflake Lane without having to deal with too much traffic or crowds.
Seattle Hotel Reviews
Hilton Seattle– this is a downtown Seattle hotel that has connecting rooms for families and it can also accommodate pets. It is right across from a Mod Pizza.
Motif Seattle – this hotel is also pup-friendly and its Frolik restaurant has intriguing drinks and bites as well with an outdoor patio.
Hyatt Regency Seattle – lounge access in a club level room might be an amenity you want to consider adding at this hotel. We didn’t bring a pup but Hyatt’s often are pup-friendly, check the website when you make your reservation.
Beyond Seattle
Sagecliff Resort and Spa: specially we stayed in one of the stand alone condos designed by local architect Olson Kundig and it was a fabulous place to stay. We went in April and we were able to bring our bikes and ride around the area and this was such a great homebase-at some points in the year it might be really snowy or hot so check before you go. Some units are pet-friendly but not all of them. This Resort is attached to a winery and also is a great place to stay if you are going to a concert at the Gorge Amphitheater.
Suncadia-this resort in Cle Elum is close to hiking and has tennis, golf, swimming pools and all the summer sports you can imagine and it’s great in winter too. Many new restaurants are popping up in Cle Elum including Chef Shota’s Banzai teriyaki and Dru Bru’s new taproom. Hikes like this one to a fire lookout we went to at sunset once are also nearby Suncadia.
The Lodge at Columbia Point-this one is in Richland in the Tri-Cities and along the waterfront. There are suites and dog-friendly rooms as well as bike rentals and an open air pool for the kids. The restaurant here has excellent room service if you want to enjoy a meal on your balcony instead of eating in a restaurant.
Great Wolf Lodge– I actually didn’t totally want to go to Great Wolf Lodge until we went to Great Wolf Lodge and we had a great time. I went with another mom friend and her kids and we stayed in a Grizzly Bear Suite and it was spacious and comfortable.
