My kids are big fans of bubble tea and so am I. I grew up in Coquitlam BC, Canada, and this is a treat that’s been up north for a while but it’s taken a bit of time to get down here to Seattle so I get really excited when see a new bubble tea spot. We even wrote a post for Seattle’s Child last year where the three of us visited as many bubble tea spots as we could in the city in the summer. So when this new boba place, Tiger Sugar invited us to visit (thanks to another local instagrammer Tiffany @Feedher ) we totally had to check it out.
Tiger Sugar Seattle is on 2nd Avenue, across from Target and near Pike Place market and SAM
Tiger Sugar Seattle is set to open on June 18th, 2022 so if you’re reading this when I post, please make sure you wait until it actually opens. I found this update on Google Maps from the actual store and it sounds like there will be free snacks and merchandise for the first 200 customers on opening weekend. We tried some of the black sugar popcorn that will be given out and it is really tasty. I knew I’ve seen this store before so I asked Ying the owner, and it is a chain from Taiwan and this is the first store in Washington. I’ve seen it up in Canada, in Richmond BC and this boba chain is famous for its stripey “tiger sugar” style black sugar syrup with a special 8 hour recipe for their syrups and tapioca pearls.
Tiger Sugar is about a 5 minute walk from the Seattle Art Museum so it’s a perfect nearby stop after a morning of checking out art. It’s also right near Target and Pike Place Market as well. We came by after a soccer game and it is so awesome to have boba shops like this one popping up in the city so we don’t have to drive as far as we used to in order to find delicious boba-filled drinks.
And was Tiger Sugar Boba in Seattle delicious?
We loved it. The guys and I had different drinks and each of us enjoyed the drinks we picked. Mine was the Black Sugar Boba and Pearl and Chocolate Malt Milk with Cream Mousse and I loved the chocolate malt taste.
I’m not sure if any of the drinks on the menu actually have tea in them-this place is more famous for the way the tiger sugar and milk blends together. I was surprised to see coffee and chocolate malt mixed with some of the drinks. And this was a really delicious combination. And all of the drinks have bubbles and the boba in mine was an enjoyable mixture of big and small sized tapioca pearls too. I’ve heard the pudding is very tasty as well.
Are you a fan of tapioca bubbles in your drinks? And if you’re in downtown Seattle, I’ve compiled a list of things you can do if you’re in the area for just the day. And if you’re with your kids, we are always exploring and adding new things to my Seattle with kids idea list as well.
