Do other places have nighttime parades or is it only Seattle? And is only Seattle again now? I think this parade got moved to afternoon for a few years recently. But now the TorchLight Parade will be starting in the evening again (at 7:30pm) and it has a route along the Seattle Waterfront. This year the Torchlight parade in Seattle is happening on July 26th and it’s part of Seattle’s SeaFair.
Before the parade there is a 5km Torchlight Run
You can find out more about the 5km Torchlight run here and it happens along the parade route at 6pm before the parade at 7:30pm. You have to sign up before hand and there is a 40 dollar sign up fee. We often bike along the Seattle Waterfront and it’s gorgeous so this hopefully will also be a pretty beautiful run and especially at this time of day too.
And as for the Torchlight Parade
I don’t know of many nighttime parades except for maybe at Disneyland, and I hope the Torchlight parade participants go all out this year and light up their floats and outfits to celebrate this new parade route. Looking at the weather forecast, it should be good weather and this seems like such a great way to close out July. The parade itself is free to attend and you can find more about where to find the parade route and good places to watch the parade here-it seems like you only have to pay to watch it in the reserved seating zones. The parade is supposed to end at 10:30pm.
I’m not sure where I would park for this parade, I’m thinking we might bike in to see it to avoid finding parking. (Do you know where to park?) Public Transportation also sounds like a pretty good option. I’ve also used Lime a few times lately and it’s been pretty easy and not overly scary, especially on the sitting down scooters but I’ve never used Lime in Seattle at night yet. (Can you ride Lime at night in Seattle? I’m not sure if they have lights.)
I’ll add more details if and when I learn more about this parade. Have you ever been to a nighttime parade?
