I just learned that the Seattle Mariners have a Grand Slam Summer Challenge for youth in our community with free events throughout Seattle this summer promoting volunteerism, physical activity, and reading. Some of the events have already passed (like story time sessions at a library and a hike in Bellevue Botanical Garden) but there are still some that you might want to do know about. (I hope they do these again next year). I think you need to be a member of the free Mariners Kids Club to participate and I’ve included the link just in case.
Do you have kids 14 and under who might like to sign up for the free Seattle Mariners Kids Club?

Here is one of the Grand Slam Summer Challenge Events left this summer:
Moose’s Community Huddle : Wednesday, July 30 – 10:00am-12:00pm at Alki Beach in West Seattle
You can join the Mariner Moose for a morning of giving back! Mariners Moose and Backpack Brigade are partnering to give back to the community and supporting local kids struggling with food insecurity. Bring a non-perishable food item to donate, like boxed mac & cheese or canned goods, (you can find out more about Backpack Brigade here) and receive a complimentary ice cream treat from Sugar + Spoon. When you sign up through the RSVP you get an email that says you’ll be sent information about the event closer to the event date but it will be somewhere on Alki Beach. (I’m also not sure if an RSVP means that you automatically get to attend but you can find out more through this link here. I’ll add more about it if I find out more too)
You can find more about the Grand Slam Summer Challenge events here
Have you been to a Seattle Mariners Game? (I especially love their drone show and fireworks nights. My dream is to see “hotdogs from heaven” and maybe attend a Hello Kitty game one day too. But I’ve tried their ice cream nachos and they are brilliant.)
