So today I’m hanging up the running shoes for a couple of weeks. You’ve heard me talking about running forever and I finally conquered my big run: the Lululemon Seawheeze. I literally ran AROUND Vancouver. It’s pretty much the best type of tour you could imagine, so if you’re thinking about heading to Vancouver next year around this time, this might be an innovative way to be a tourist in a fabulous city.
You get fit, get free shorts and see everything that’s beautiful about this city. All the while guys on giant tricycles, big marching-esque bands, cheerleaders on paddleboards and banner-wavers all cheer you on making you feel like a total celebrity. You can do it! You can do it! I was reminded about what it must feel like to be a baby taking their first steps: everyone around you just goes nuts.
For me, the best part of doing the Seawheeze was doing this epic run with someone I totally adore. My best friend who I’ve known since elementary school, was right there with me and it was cool that even though we are in different cities, we both could train for the same event and it was awesome that we could accomplish something so big together. S listened to me complain how this thing was becoming my part-time job, she sent me little messages of encouragement, and posted times that made the competitive monster in me push myself just a little bit harder. We picked up the packets with my guys and had fun lounging in the cool race areas Lululemon had set up. (This place was fantastic! Lulu definitely goes all out.) We loved the popsicles and the Cotton Candy trailer was delightfully adorable too!
On the race day, my bestie ran it in way under 2 hours (As in 1 hour 50 minutes: she’s amazing!!!) and I was so proud to do it in 2 hours and 12 minutes. We used a training method she sent me and I think I’ll use it again in the half we run in 2 years time. (Did you hear that S? I am getting hooked on this running thing. We totally need to do the Seawheeze again!)
So Happy Monday! All I’m buying today are some faux Nespresso capsules from a new company called Hiline in New York to try out for my machine, some pretty things from Baublebar and booking some kind of spa treatment. Hope you are doing something lovely where ever you are!
(PS. my FAVORITE Canadian facial spa is coming to Seattle at the end of the month. It’s called Skoah and if it was here right now, that’s totally where I’d want to be right now!)
