I was invited to Eye Eye to check out their new expansion, meet with an eye doctor and choose a pair of prescription sunglasses. Eye Eye has been around in Seattle for a little while but they recently redesigned their store and made it nearly double in size. If you are looking for glasses in Seattle, they have a large selection of trendy, wearable frames.
My eyes have been horribly bad since about 5th grade and I have worn glasses and then contacts ever since. And I hate eyeballs. I have always believed that they are the weirdest body part ever and everything about them terrifies me. But as someone who uses a computer a lot my eyes get a little watery and strained and a few years ago I had a scary eye mishap that made me even more repulsed and scared of anything about eyes so I still make sure I get my eyes checked all the time and I try to take good care of them so nothing like that happens again.
I was a little apprehensive about seeing a new eye doctor but I was given an appointment with Dr. Will for an eye exam and he was really personable and kind. I’ve been trying to do more things in the name of bravery and all things #YOLO so seeing a new eye doctor or even trying eyelash extensions like I did last month are all really expanding my boundaries. Eye Eye seems pretty state of the art and Dr. Will used a few cool machines to check and make sure my eyes were healthy. I didn’t want to see all the inside the eye pictures he took but I was really thankful when Dr. Will helped me update my contact lenses to something more modern. I’ve been wearing the same disposables for years, but they are being discontinued and I didn’t realize there is a lot of new technology in contacts. I ended up buying a year’s supply of a better-for-me brand and I tried them for a week before I bought them and I loved how comfortable they were.
Mimi was the lovely person who helped me pick out my prescription sunglasses. I had been in EYE EYE once before for a preview and had already played around with a few glasses shapes. But picking one that I really love to come home with me was so helpful with Mimi because she was good at reading how I felt in each pair and evaluating that with how the glasses actually looked on my face. We picked up a few pairs and then decided on my best choice.
Prescription sunglasses are cool for someone like me who always wears glasses on the airplane or glasses after skiing and I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of these prescription sunglasses when I go to pick the kids up after their ski lessons this winter. Lately, I’ve just been wearing them around the house at breakfast because it’s been so rainy outside in Seattle and the morning lights are so bright. If you are looking for glasses in Seattle, you might also want to check out Eye Eye and their beautiful Capitol Hill neighborhood store. Do you wear glasses too? And what do you think about eyeballs?
(PS. As stated above, I was invited to EYE EYE for a pair of prescription sunglasses and an eye exam, and as always the opinions and writing this piece are all my own.)
