**An update**It seems that TROVE has either paused or shut down for awhile. You might want to try Sakuraco or Dalla Fonte if you are looking for subscription boxes with a travel theme.
Just before the holidays, I heard of a new travel themed subscription box made by two Seattle based best friends who love to travel together and I was instantly intrigued. Don’t we all miss travel so much lately? And one of the biggest reasons we love to travel is to hang out with family and friends all over the world. This subscription box called “TROVE” visits a different place each quarter and I’m eagerly waiting to hear where the spring box will highlight. I was invited to try out the holiday TROVE subscription box and it was based in Seattle where we live so this was a really neat way to start our travel adventure close to home.
What is in a TROVE box?
The Seattle Holiday TROVE subscription box was full of products that are dear to our city. Seabear who makes the smoked salmon in the box also is my favorite place in Seattle to get wild salmon fillets for dinner too. I love Seattle Chocolate and we’ve already eaten up the Apple Pie A la Mode bar. And I’m especially looking forward to bringing the Miir Pourigami on a trip we go on one day.
TROVE boxes also have a more far-reaching effect in places that we might not be able to physically visit right now- buying from TROVE helps give back to the local communities that you ‘visit” with each box. The company has pledged 20% of profits back to the small businesses they highlight in each city.
And the live experiences are such a great idea with this subscription too!
Each TROVE box also comes with a live cooking class and cultural experience that makes use of some of the ingredients in the box. The Seattle TROVE box came with a cooking class led by Eat Seattle’s Liz Philpot and a coffee class taught by Sam Spillman, the United States Barista Champ. I missed the cooking class because we were watching the Seattle Seahawks game. But thankfully the class is also recorded so it can be accessed if you miss the live class too. The coffee class is still coming up so hopefully I’ll do better at making it to that one.
Also you can buy products individually in the TROVE marketplace
TROVE also has a marketplace where you can buy some of the things that you might have really loved from the place your TROVE box came from or from a past TROVE box you wish you might have bought. When I checked, they had a promo that if you buy 6 things you get 10% off. I am very curious about the Matcha powder from their Kyoto box and some olive oil from Puglia Italy.
I like the products in this Seattle TROVE box and the fact that this box not only curates really cool things from a city but also a travel experience makes me think this is something I will gift to people in the future. It is also something I’ll definitely be interested in trying again. Have you tried this TROVE subscription box? And if so do you have a favorite one so far?
