For all of you parents like us who are living in that hour and a half window of soccer practice and also that 30 minute warm up before games, our lives don’t have to be just soccer. I’ve made it a habit of finding quick coffee shops and interesting places near as many of the soccer fields in Washington State as I can. This post is going to be updated over time, but there is no point for it to sit and wait in drafts until it is complete. I’ll update it in the same way I’m gradually updating my Seattle neighborhoods posts except this one will be mainly for Seattle soccer families. And if you find a place on my blog that you want to visit, please make sure to visit the place’s actual site to get the most up to date information as things are ever changing. But I hope this helps you if you’re in your car waiting near soccer fields in Washington State and want to make it an adventure. And if you have a place you want to add, please feel free to message me through the blog or through my instagram too.
Bainbridge Island: we’ve had quite a few games on Bainbridge Island at the High School. We usually stop at Pegasus Coffee on the way, and depending on the time of year, you can make it to a bunch of farm stands nearby in the hour players have for warm up. Last summer I found a Dahlia U-pick that was gorgeous and it inspired this Bainbridge Island post.
Cleveland High School: if you ever have a soccer game at Cleveland High School you can get to Cafe Flora Bakehouse, a favorite for coffee and pastries. And also my kids’ soccer teammates’mom recommended Cafetal Quilombo Cafe to me one game andit is a great place to get takeout tamales-they are magnificent.
Ingraham High School: this field thankfully has actual bathrooms and not just outhouses and they are among the cleanest of the ones I’ve seen at Seattle soccer fields. (I probably should write up a bathrooms near soccer fields post too but most of the places I’ve included in this list will have a bathroom if there is not one at the soccer field.) Shoreline Costco is not too far from this soccer field, but also if you are here you can also get to Kiki Bakery really easily (but it often closes earlier than soccer practice for us) and Asian Family Market where I grab produce, snacks and some of our weeknight meal staples. Rain Cafe is also in this mall and we’ve grabbed bubble tea here sometimes. There is also an Aliberto’s Jr very close to here as well.
Ingraham High School has recently become our favorite practice spot because we found Eat and Go Thai Street food on Aurora and so it’s literally less than 5 minutes away and then we go shop at Asian Family Market after we eat or we bring take out for the guys to eat at home.
Miller Playfield: this is in Capitol Hill and the parking lot is tricky at night but there is usually a bit of street parking nearby. If you bring your pickleball racket you might be able to play here-there are also Pickleball courts but I’m not sure how you book these. Monsoon is such a good restaurant and a 5 minute walk away along with Cafe Robin, Cone and Steiner and Rocket Taco. If you want to get in your car again, Cafe Flora is one of our favorite and is only a five minute drive away and also Kitchen and Market is 5 minutes away too and has easy free parking right in front of the shop if you need to pick up dinner supplies or lunch supplies or just walk around the shop.
Shoreline A/B: if you play for Seattle United, there is a good chance you’ll be at this field at least a few times a year. There is Shoreline Costco nearby where we often go for gas/coffee/restrooms/shopping. But also there is Dumpling Generation where the handmade noodles are excellent and there are vegetarian options here too. Our Place dessert cafe has been showing up in Instagram land recently too and it’s in the same parking lot. Both of these are less than 10 minutes away from Shoreline A/B.
Shoreline A/B is also less than 15 minutes drive to Edmonds so we’ve also been going to MOTO pizza there (you can put in an advance order too) and then eat in or eat on the nearby beach if the weather is nice.
Woodinville Sports Fields: we’ve actually only had one game here but it was memorable because of the coffee shops that are nearby as well as it is not too far away from Drive Thru Cinnamon Buns. There is also Ballard Pizza Co right literally next to the field and a coffee shop right there too. There are a few wineries within a 5-10 minute drive like Novelty Hill Winery. And if it’s pumpkin patch season or lavender season you can stop by JB Family Growers and we just went to their pumpkin patch (October 2024) and it was a dog friendly place too.
