This is a sponsored post on behalf of South Lake Union for #SummerinSLU and as always the opinions in this blog are my own
It is summer in Seattle, and possibly one of the best times to be in our city. The weather is sunny and perfect and the city is bustling. And if you are in our city this time of year a great place to experience Seattle like a local is in SLU. Not only is this where so many people here work, it’s where a lot of us eat and play too. From now until September 10, there are also some really fun and free things happening on the Day 1 Playfield right next to the Seattle Spheres. My family and I have been coming to the area after I pick the guys up from camp the past couple weeks to grab snacks and sometimes dinner and join in the activities-we even have a video up on Instagram if you want to check it out too.
You can find all the details here. MONDAY and FRIDAY #summerinSlu activities by the Seattle Spheres 8am-6pm
There are giant lawn games happening on the field beside the Spheres. We also look for the Amazon banana stand to get a free banana. This is a good day to check out the Mi Casa, Your Casa 2.0 installation by Creos (the same creator that brought the cool SLU after Dark installation in the winter)
TUESDAY 11am-1pm Amazon Expressions Studio
Check out the calendar to see what activity is happening each week. All the activities take less than 30 minutes and all the supplies are provided too. When we went there was a card printing activities and the South Lake Union instagram usually shares the craft activity of the day in their stories as well.
WEDNESDAY Food Pop-Ups 3-5
There is a different free food pop-up every week and we have to catch this before the end of summer. We went way too late on the watermelon pop-up day and it was very popular and there were no more left. I heard the most recent food pop-up was a s’mores stand and it looked pretty incredible too. (did you catch this one? I so wish we had time to visit. Wednesdays are usually a busy day in our house.)
THURSDAY Urban Oasis 11am-2pm
Scout and I popped by the Urban Oasis while running errands. It was a brilliantly sunny day and so many people seemed to be just hanging out in the area and enjoying themselves when we went. I saw a lot of people relaxing and sprawled out on swings and chairs, and lots of selfies being taken too. I tried a free cucumber mint drink and got a water for Scout too. It felt so kind to have free photogenic and fun drinks on a hot day.
And here are a few of our favorite stops in the area EVERYDAY
Glassybaby– we come here to watch them blow glass in the hotshop and we love these candle holders for gifts for friends and ourselves.
Mamnoon Street– one of our favorite places for takeout we usually get the chicken entree and jibneh wi za’atar.
Marination-we takeout from here a bunch too. It is not open on Mondays.
Great State burger- this place sponsors our kids’ soccer and they have a meatless burger.
Happy Lemon-they have reliably good bubble tea. We usually get at least one milk tea with pearls, lychee and pudding.
Kitanda Cafe-I think this one just opened up recently but they have other locations all over Seattle and they have delicious açaí bowls.
Fulcrum Coffee-I love the coffee here. I usually get lattes in most places but here I’m sometimes swayed by their specialty drinks.
GH Pasta – their rigatoni with tomato, burrata, and basil is totally craveable.
Have you ever been to South Lake Union in Seattle? And do you think you’ll check out #summerinslu too?
