September is when school goes back in Seattle and the cruise ships finish up their last trips from this port for the year-our city really feels a lot less busy than in the summer months. Because the weather is usually pretty nice and the days are still longer, it’s one of my favorite months in the city. And how is it nearly half over and I’m just looking at this list? Maybe it’s because my guys are finally in high school and high school is somehow a zillion times busier than all the other schooling they’ve ever done.
So what is there to do in Seattle in September?
You can troll all over Seattle in September
Thomas Dambo’s trolls are everywhere in and around our city. The newest troll will just popping up in Ballard near the Nordic Museum. We had a chance visit with the one in Issaquah and just peeked at the one in Portland. We also recently visited the one on Bainbridge Island too. Have you also seen the West Seattle or Vashon Island trolls? All the trolls are here for the next three years, so I’m not in any rush. If you do go, please message though. It’s fun to see the troll hunts. Maybe also remember to give our resident Fremont Troll a little visit too so he doesn’t get too lonely.
Stop at Uvillage and check out Sezane
Sezane just opened at University Village and I hope this Parisian pop-up sticks around for good.
Fisherman’s Fall Festival at Fishermen’s Terminal September 30th
This festival at Fishermen’s Terminal in Interbay is an exciting one because it hasn’t happened in a while. Right now there are calls for volunteers on the site and if you feel like you can lend a hand, it’s a fun way to get involved. Seeing the festival flyers reminded me we haven’t had fish and chips there from the window in so long and they’re really delicious.
Hello Kitty Seattle Mariners Night September 26
The guys have been bugging me to go to a Mariners Game and I love Hello Kitty so maybe we’ll be there September 26 too. If you purchase your ticket through this link you can bring home a Hello Kitty Souvenir from the game. Even if you are not a baseball fan, the Mariners Stadium has really cool views of the city and there are many local food options at the games too so it’s a great way to get a feel for the city.
Visit a pumpkin patch or pick apples! Starting around September 16
It’s the time of year when you can visit local farms and the fall festivities begin. Bob’s Corn is now open with their fall festival. We also have visited the Farm at Swan’s Trail a bunch of times over the years. And I so wish my kids were still young enough for Remlinger Farms.
And a Farm to Pint festival for 21+ on September 30th in Skagit Valley
If you are looking for a fun grownups only daytime event-there is a Farm to Pint festival happening in La Conner on September 30th that you can read more about here. This summer I spent a lot of time driving through the Skagit Valley visiting farm stands and many of those farm stands should still be open through the end of the month too.
Donate $50 to Pies against Cancer and receive a free pie
You can read more about this fundraiser for Children’s Hospital here. Donations $50 and above between now and Thanksgiving will be matched with a baker through the signup genius.
Get Inspired about Iceland
This is not in September but actually next month in October from October 5-7 and you have to try and get tickets now. Many of the events are free but you need to send in your name and email into a lottery to get ticket.
And you can U-pick flowers at some local farms until the end of September too
From North Bend to Bainbridge Island, I’ve found a few farms where you can U-pick flowers and hopefully we’ll know of more next year as well.
I will keep updating this list if I see anything else this month that catches my eye. With two kids at different high schools this month, we’re not out and about doing that much except for surviving. So please have fun in our city for us and if you are headed to Seattle with kids in tow you can check out this list here for some ideas and feel free to message me as well.
And here’s looking ahead to Things to do in Seattle in October next! (I usually update this list a few days before the month begins so some events may still be from last October)
