Things to do in Seattle in October

seattle in October
Spread the love

Suddenly it’s October isn’t it? I was just reminiscing about our October last year where we started the month with a last minute trip to Disneyland (October was a great time to go by the way-we pretty much did it all in one day)and escaped a bit of the smoke we had. This year there are lots of things to do in Seattle in October and I’m especially dreaming about farms and I’ve got a list of maybe 5 of them I really want to visit. I have no idea about what to do for Halloween yet, but Halloween lasts from September 1-October 31st in this city and maybe lingers a little into November making it like 1/6 of the year so we still have a ton of time.

So what are the things to do in Seattle in October? (as with all my lists I’ll keep adding as things pop up, but this is what I have for now)

October is a good month to become a Seattle Aquarium member if you love Animal Crossing

Some of the characters from Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be adventuring at the Seattle Aquarium because of a partnership with Nintendo of America starting this month.  There will be photo opportunities, a smartphone bingo scavenger hunt and a new exhibit too. This will all begin on October 7th but members will be allowed into the Aquarium early on October 7th and 8th (at 9am ahead of the public admission on both of those days at 9:30am)

Applelooza with Seattle Farm Markets

October is apple time at Seattle Neighborhood Farmer’s markets and there will be some apple theme days this month to check out too. Make sure you click through Seattle Farmers’ market site for the dates apples will be the theme at your local farm market. For example University District Appleooza will be on October 21st this year.

Refract: the Seattle Experience from October 12-15

Refract is a celebration of all things glass in our area. It starts with a big party called Gather at Chihuly Garden and Glass on October 12. Then in the following days there will be glass art activities all around the city and you can find more details through this link. Make sure you check it out before the event because some of these will book up.

It’s Fall Y’all at Infinity Farm in Issaquah October 14th

This is a free public event with over 70 local vendors, where you can visit and feed farm animals. You can find more info through this link.

WING DOME – Seattle, WA (every Tuesday in October at the Kirkland and Greenwood Locations)

There is free pumpkin painting on Tuesdays at the Wing Dome Kirkland and Greenwood locations for kids with all supplies included and kids eat free on Tuesdays as well!

Pumpkin Bash at Woodland Park Zoo October 28th weekend

Pumpkin Bash is scheduled for the weekend of October 28th from 9am-3pm both days. There will be trick or treating, Boomazium and a costume parade. You can find more details on the zoo website. Pumpkin Bash activities are included with zoo admission and this might be a great excuse to get your family a zoo membership (we love ours!)

October is member month at PCC Markets

I’ve partnered with PCC Markets this year to share about cool things happening their stores because I shop there often and this month is really cool if you’re a PCC member too. Every week in October members receive special discounts like through October 10th members can get $10 off $20 of more for Health and Body Care products. (I stopped in and got the coolest bubble bath!) From October 11-17th members get $10 off $20 or more of produce and the produce at PCC Markets is usually really great. (Lately I’ve been buying these grapes by Ladybug Produce and they’re packaged really adorably and they’re delicious.)

Feast in the Market in Pike Place Market on October 17th

If you don’t have tickets try to get on the waiting list for this incredible Pike Place Market Event. Feast at the Market is the reason I became involved in volunteering in the market for a few years when the kids were in early elementary-I loved the idea that Pike Place Market supports a free healthcare clinic and not many ‘touristy’ places do something cool like this. Feast at the market is a walking feast that supports Neighborcare and you get tickets for bites at a bunch of restaurants around Pike Place Market and walk, drink and eat and have a fantastic time. I’m so glad it’s back this year.

Maybe get your flu and booster?

I have to wait a month to get mine because of my autoimmune treatment but last year I got both in one arm and maybe should have done one in each but who knows. It felt a bit like if I did a big arm day the next day without actually having worked out my arms. The year I have an appointment schedule through Bartell Drugs in my neighborhood. You can use Washington’s vaccine finder to help you find a shot.

Seattle Chocolates Haunted Halloween Tour (October 19-29th)

It’s like the Seattle Chocolates factory tour but Halloween Themed and you will probably need to pre-book if you want to get tickets. There is also a cookie decorating class on October 28th you might want to check out too.

Pumpkin Decorating at Flora Bakehouse October 21

Check out the link for times, details and reservations. I love the Flora Bakehouse for how they help our community and it is also such a gorgeous cafe and they have really delicious food too. I think this would be such a great event if I had young kids.

The Gold Rush Museum (Wednesday through Sunday 10am-5pm just check the hours before you go)

My kids studied the Gold Rush at school and were totally obsessed about it and I’ve been meaning to bring them to the Klondike Gold Rush Museum so I’m aiming for sometime this month and maybe you might want to too. It will be a lot less busy than in the summer and it’s an indoor thing we can do on a rainy day and there is some rain in the forecast for October. We might also do an Underground tour this month as well.

And another thing you might want to book?

If you think you’ll want to stay at the Posthotel (a dreamy/splurgy and adults only spa hotel in Leavenworth) or Iron Springs (beautiful modern rustic cabins on the Olympic Peninsula) next summer now might also be the time to check your dates and book because these places tend to book up when you actually want to book them and I had that happen to me last year.

Any other ideas for October? Please feel free to let me know and I’ll also try to update this list as I hear more things. If you are looking for things to do in November in Seattle you can find that list here.

(PS. the food picture is from an outdoor lunch at Cafe Campagne one of our favorite spots in Pike Place Market)
