My most favorite Seattle thing from 2022: Noir Lux Candle Company

Spread the love

Maybe we can people again. It has been so hard not to people in the past couple years. And thankfully this year it finally feels like we’re starting to be able to make plans to meet friends and family and there is so much hope. We’ve been able to have so many first-time-in-way-too-long reunions and family trips. And the other day I had a meetup with some people I’ve met through this blog and instagram to make our own candles at Noir Lux Candle Company in Seattle and I hope we can bring more of this type of connection to 2023

Noir Luxe Candle Company

My friend Nicole brought me to Noir Lux Candle Company in February 2022 shortly after it opened because she told me they had the best smelling candles. Both of us really liked one that has a jasmine scent. It was such a peaceful and calm way to spend an afternoon testing different aroma combinations and creating a beautiful candle. I really wanted to be able to come back with a group and try making candles again.

And then I accidentally won a candy corn contest with Brach’s

Back in October sometime I randomly posted about candy people were looking forward to for Halloween on one of my instagram squares and a few people posted about candy corn. And as I was scrolling though my instagram feed I saw another creator I was following had posted a candy corn contest so I tagged the candy corn lovers encouraging them to enter.

And then a few weeks later I got a message from Brach’s. My tags had counted as entries for the contest and I won over 50 pounds of candy corn, some candy corn clothing and a pretty cool cash prize too. I decided I wanted to put some of my prize towards something in real life for my instagram community because I won the contest trying to connect with people.

So in December I chose my favorite Seattle things and decided to do a week of giveaways

You can read my favorite Seattle things of 2022 on this list. After I created my list, I messaged these places and they all helped me host contests and giveaways for my audience. And then I invited local winners from some of these giveaways as well as a few randomly picked winners from an instagram story to come and meet at Noir Lux Candle Company to make candles together. (we had a few last minute cancellations because of illnesses which is also still really 2022. I hope that in 2023 we have better health again but also thankful people are so considerate of others and health too.)

PCC markets also helped me out with some food and beverages and made the party feel really special. I often shop the one at Ballard Blocks because my kids love the foccacia sandwiches for their lunches. I like that they also have a lot of locally made Seattle products and I picked up hunni water, Seattle Chocolates, and Pastry Mitten treats there too.

And of course I brought candy corn. Everyone I know this year gets candy corn for good luck and community.

And I totally want to take another candle making class here again!

It was a really special thing to be able to take a candle making class with some people I have met through social media but have never met in real life before and we all had a great time. And Colina at Noir Lux Candle Company made the party feel so easy, beautiful and fun. I could spend the whole day in this space that she’s created. This would be such an awesome activity for a work group too.

I hope we can do more of this in 2023. Have you ever made a candle?

(PS. always enter the contest. Do the thing. Take the chance. XOXO )
