I get so many emails about our city it’s hard not to get overwhelmed or keep up. But one from Kayak really caught my eye this morning and I thought it would be something we all would want to know about Seattle especially because so many of us here love to travel. Any guesses where the cheapest flight destinations from Seattle this summer might be?
The three most popular destinations from Seattle are definitely not the cheapest. According to Kayak, the most popular are London, UK (With a $1124 average roundtrip flight price), Tokyo, Japan (with a $1439 average roundtrip flight price) and Paris, France with a ($1305 average roundtrip flight price). I have heard a lot of people traveling to Tokyo lately and I’ve been tempted too. If this is you this summer, is this congruent with what you paid for your flights? And will you stick to Tokyo for your travels or travel more around Japan and beyond?
Paris has the summer Olympics this year so I wonder if flight prices will go up or go down next summer or if it will be as popular a summer travel destination. We haven’t been since the guys were pretty small. And just seeing London on the list made me want to go back ASAP. We’ve traveled there for as few as 3 nights with a non-stop flight from Seattle and had a fabulous time.
As for the cheapest summer flight destinations from Seattle?
The number one spot from Seattle for cheapest flights in the summer is San Francisco, California with a $210 average roundtrip flight price. San Francisco is a place I really love with the trolleys and delicious food. At my pottery class we were just talking about the incredible Heath Ceramics factory tours and it reminded me I have visited in a long while. And I know we went to Muir Woods from San Francisco one trip and that was incredibly memorable too.
Phoenix, Arizona comes in 2nd and this one does not surprise me because I think it would be very hot there during summertime – this one has a $213 average roundtrip flight price. But Arizona seems like it also would be pretty equipped for handling the heat so I think it might be an interesting summer vacation idea.
And Denver Colorado is the third place destination for the cheapest summer flight destination from Seattle with a $234 average and we went there for a wedding ages ago and had a fabulous time.
Are you traveling to a place not on these lists this summer? And are you traveling to see family or to see sights? We are still figuring out our summer plans-with teenagers in our house, summer is becoming increasingly complex to plan family trips. (So many schedules and so little time…..)
(PS. my son who usually helps plan our trips often uses Kayak to search flights. I’ve also heard using Google flights is helpful too and I always start my search with Expedia and any of the airlines we frequently fly.)
(PPS. if you are looking for nonstop flights from Seattle to help inspire a trip, I’ve put together a list here.)
