The other morning at pottery class I heard a song that I heard in Ain’t too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations which was our favorite musical last season. And then I got a message in my inbox that the 2024/2025 Broadway in Seattle season was just announced and there are so many musicals we all will want to see. I know my teens will be especially excited about Back to the Future. We just saw it in London and they declared that it might even be better than Hamilton (which they both also really loved.) And Hamilton is coming to Seattle this season too so you can decide for yourself. Hamilton is on the 2024/2025 list as a “special performance” and in order to purchase tickets for special performances at this point, you need to subscribe to a season package.
I’ve included the 2024/2025 Broadway in Seattle at The Paramount Season schedule below as well as the special performances and I’ll update each musical closer to their opening dates.
PETER PAN: August 21 – 25, 2024
I’m looking forward to Peter Pan because I think this is the first musical I ever saw as a young child (maybe it was yours too) and I still remember the magic of seeing Peter Pan fly over the audience and throw glitter. This Peter Pan is a new adaptation of the nearly 70-year-old musical and you can learn more about it here. I’ll update this space with my review when I see it.
FUNNY GIRL: September 24 – 29, 2024
I’ve been wanting to see this since musical I watched Glee ages ago. It’s definitely a classic and I’m sad I missed Lea Michele playing Fanny Brice in New York City. You can read more about Funny Girl coming to Seattle on the STG presents website and I just had the chance to interview Hannah Shankman who plays Fanny Brice in this year’s Broadway tour.
WICKED (Season Special) November 6 – December 1, 2024
I absolutely love Wicked and it’s a season special so you currently need a subscription to purchase tickets. When we saw this one in London, I went and got my kids the Wizard of Oz to read before we went because I realized they hadn’t read that book either. Wizard of Oz was such a classic for us growing up that I took it for granted that they would know the story, so it might be a good thing to get the book before you go too. You can find out more about Wicked in Seattle through this link.
BACK TO THE FUTURE. December 10 – 22, 2024
This is another one where you might want to watch the movie before you see the musical. And I was worried that the musical would not live up to the movies but we saw this one in London and both the set and the performers were incredible. It feels like a revolutionary type of musical because it incorporates a lot of technology and my guys think it’s the best one ever. I’m so glad Back to the Future is included in the Broadway in Seattle 2024/2025 season
KIMBERLY AKIMBO January 7 – 12, 2025
I don’t know much about this musical yet so you can read more on the Broadway Seattle website. From what I’ve read so far this one is recommended for ages 12 and up.
HAMILTON (Season Special) February 4 – March 2, 2025
Hamilton is back to Seattle again and this is the musical that really got my guys into musicals. We listened to the music for months after they first went. This one is a Season special.
LIFE OF PI April 15 – 20, 2025
Life of Pi is a book that you can start reading now if you haven’t yet so you’ll know more about it before you go and see the musical in April. I’m so curious how this one is imagined on stage and there are more details through this link.
SIX (Season Special) May 6 – 11, 2025
You can find out more about Six here. This one is shorter than a regular musical with no intermission and I kind of like having an intermission so I was surprised with how short it was when I first saw it. Six is a season special in Seattle. It’s very popular and was here last year so it’s cool that Six is coming back again.
Riverdance 30 – The New Generation (Season Special) May 30 – June 1, 2025
This is also a season special and I’m really curious about this one. Riverdance was really popular in the 90’s I think and I hadn’t heard the name again until it popped up in this 2024/2025 Seattle Broadway season.
MAMMA MIA! (Season Special) June 10 – 15, 202
Mamma Mia is another season special and I watched the movie a bunch of times before our Greece trip last year. I love ABBA so the soundtrack of this one gets a lot of play in our house.
& JULIET July 29 – August 3, 2025
I hope one of my guys is reading Shakespeare this year. I remember we all loved the Baz Luhrman Romeo and Juliet and I will definitely revisit this movie before & Juliet this summer. You can read more about the musical here and I’m glad it’s part of the 2024/2025 season too
Are you excited about any or all of these musicals coming to Seattle? I think this season might be the season with the most musicals I’ve ever been excited about!
