Maybe you already knew this but somehow it surprised me when I learned that movie theaters in our area all charge different prices (and some vastly different prices). And because it seems like we are finally going to more movies in theaters again and there are so many I want to see coming out this year, I am compiling what I learn about theatres in our area to figure out the best places to watch movies in Seattle and maybe how to save some money in the process too.
My motivation came from a quest to watch Project Hail Mary in IMAX with my teens (did you go see this movie in a theatre too?) and the tickets I initially almost purchased at a theatre were nearly $30 each. For a family of 4, buying tickets to this movie would be over $120 before taxes, fees, popcorn, treats and maybe even parking-this helped me find another theatre about the same distance from my house where I paid $90 for 4 tickets for the same movie.
So where can you go to watch a movie in Seattle for the best price?
Make sure you check all of these on their official websites before you go, discounts are always changing and the official websites will have the most current information.
For the best priced IMAX feature film movie it might be at the Pacific Science Center especially if you have the Igniter membership level that gives you a 35% discount on IMAX feature films.
For teens with a Teentix membership you can go to movies at SIFF Cinema downtown for $5.
Groupon has AMC movie tickets, Regal Movie Tickets and Cinemark movie club memberships for a discount as well.
Is it a Tuesday?
On Tuesdays, movies at SIFF Cinema downtown are $7. At Ballard’s Majestic Bay Theatre Tuesday movies are $6 and you can pre-buy your tickets online too.
If you sign up for a free REGAL Crown Club membership, standard movies at REGAL cinemas on Tuesdays are currently $8.99. AMC stubs rewards members also get 50% off the evening adult base price for standard movies at the window (not online) on Tuesdays and Wednesday too.
And this is as far as I have so far. My usual theatre is the AMC at Pacific Place (where I should also probably factor in parking too) and our runner up would be Regal Thorton Place for movies (but they do not have the fancy drink machines that AMC at Pacific Place has). We recently went to the Cinemark at Lincoln Square and the seats were very roomy and comfortable watching Project Hail Mary in IMAX format. I’ll update this list as I do more research.
Do you have a favorite place to watch movies in Seattle? Or maybe do you know of other deals?
