Things to do in Seattle in September

September in Seattle
Spread the love

Forget everything else about Seattle this September, it’s now the September the Mariners made it into the playoffs and the city is so ready for this excitement. Get ready to buy your post-season tickets. (Also it is still sunny, there are so many things to do, and the city has calmed down a lot from cruise ship season.)

So what is there to do in Seattle in September?

Waterfront Grand Opening Party September 9th

This party is a whole day of celebration from 11am-9pm and aren’t we so lucky that we now have a gorgeous new waterfront in the city. The playground is open! There are beautiful spaces to sit and relax, and take in beautifully gardened areas and spectacular views. You can find all the details here.

South Lake Union has a daily contest in September

They also have really fun free craft made in South Lake Union afternoons a few times a month through September and October. I went to the moss box one and it was so relaxing to sit under a tent and craft amidst others.

You can troll all over Seattle in September

Thomas Dambo’s trolls are everywhere in and around our city. They’ve now been here two years and we’ve had a chance visit with the one in Issaquah and just peeked at the one in Portland. We also visited the one on Bainbridge Island last September too. Have you also seen the West Seattle or Vashon Island trolls? All the trolls are here for the next two years, so I’m not in any rush. If you do go, please message though. It’s fun to see the troll hunts. Maybe also remember to give our resident Fremont Troll a little visit too so he doesn’t get too lonely.

You can go back to school too for free with the Port of Seattle

Check out the Free adult education port U classes with Port of Seattle where you can learn a lot about what is going on in our city.

Find out more about childhood vaccinations and maybe schedule your flu/covid shot too?

We’re back to school and so many activities so our family is going for our flu and covid shots as soon as we can. And also I partnered with Washington Department of Health last year for a childhood vaccination awareness campaign and maybe it’s even more pertinent now.

Fisherman’s Fall Festival at Fishermen’s Terminal September 13th 11am-6pm 2025

This festival at Fishermen’s Terminal in Interbay is September 13th this year.

Seattle Kraken pre-season games

I didn’t realize that hockey starts up in September but there are a few games coming up this month including against the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers. Have you ever been to a Seattle Kraken game? If you’re also curious about what might be on the menu at the arena this season I went to a media preview and learned about their $9.99 and under menu

Hello Kitty Seattle Mariners Night September 9

I love going to Mariners games and I love Hello Kitty so maybe we’ll be there September 9. If you purchase your ticket through this link you can bring home a Hello Kitty Souvenir from the game. Even if you are not a baseball fan, the Mariners Stadium has really cool views of the city and there are many local food options at the games too like their ice cream nachos so it’s a great way to get a feel for the city.

Visit a pumpkin patch or pick apples! Starting around September 16

It’s the time of year when you can visit local farms and the fall festivities begin. Bob’s Corn pumpkin patch opens on the 13th. We also have visited the Farm at Swan’s Trail a bunch of times over the years. And I so wish my kids were still young enough for Remlinger Farms.

And a Farm to Pint festival for 21+ on September 27th in Skagit Valley

If you are looking for a fun grownups only daytime event-there is a Farm to Pint festival happening in La Conner on September 27th that you can read more about here. This summer I spent a lot of time driving through the Skagit Valley visiting farm stands and many of those farm stands should still be open through the end of the month too.

And you can U-pick flowers at some local farms until the end of September too

From North Bend to Bainbridge Island, I’ve found a few farms where you can U-pick flowers and hopefully we’ll know of more next year as well.

Also I will keep updating this list if I see anything else this month that catches my eye. With two kids at different high schools starting the school season again, we’re not out and about doing that much except for surviving and soccer. So please have fun in our city for us and if you are headed to Seattle with kids in tow you can check out this list here for some ideas and feel free to message me as well.

And here’s looking ahead to Things to do in Seattle in October next! (I usually update this list a few days before the month begins so some events may still be from last October)
